Addison's twenty-one-year-old sister, Charlotte, yelled. Her voice boomed throughout the small apartment. Her little brother, Wyatt, who was only five years old, was crying. Tears streamed down his little face as he huddles into the corner of the living room. Charlotte was yelling at little Wyatt to go to his room."Get your little butt into that room, now!" Charlotte screamed as she pointed down the hallway in the direction of Wyatt's room.
Wyatt cowered in the corner, loudly crying. Addison, who was, fourteen was in her room at the end of the hall, she sat on her bed holding a small cracked frame with a picture of her parents against her chest. Her parents sat happily in a field of grass, her mothers long blond hair was curled and she was snuggled up close to her father who had short ginger hair and round glasses, he sat there smiling at his wife. Addison could feel her eyes begin to water. She quickly sat the picture down on her nightstand and rubbed her eyes. As Addison stood up from her bed she immediately heard her name being yelled from down the hall.
"Addison! Where are you!? I need you here now!"
Addison soon ran out of her room. She swung open her door quickly and ran into the living room where her sister was still having issues with Wyatt.
"What?" Addison asked.
Charlotte swung around to face her younger sister her face was filled with rage.
"It's 11:30 at night and I want to go to bed, and Wyatt is not listening!" Charlotte raged.
Addison crossed her arms and gave her sister a sharp look. Addison looked at an imaginary watch on her wrist.
"Oh, I am very aware of the time. And I cannot force Wyatt to bed, that'll be abuse."
Charlotte shot a murderous glare at Addison. Charlotte's pale face turned red with anger, she grabbed Addison by the wrist and pulled her closer. Addison could almost feel the anger wafting off of Charlotte.
"Don't be a smart aleck, Addi" Charlotte hissed, spit flying onto Addison's face.
Addison wiped the saliva off her face and brushed the fake dust off her shoulders and pulled out of Charlotte's grasp.
"You know if you'd have patience and kindness you may be surprised at what change could happen you know."
Addison said as she stepped aside from her sister and walked over to crying Wyatt. She grabbed Wyatt by the wrist and led him to his room down the hall. As they entered Wyatt immediately ran to his bed and climbed in. He hid under his covers and quietly cried. Addison sat down on his bed and softly rubbed Wyatt's back.
"Why wouldn't you listen to Charlotte?" Addison asked kindly.
"Because she's mean to me." Wyatt quietly answered in tears.
Addison sighed and lifted the covers so she could see her brother.
"Well, I'm gonna have her bring you your water."
Wyatt immediately sat up and fear filled his eyes.
"No! She'll yell at me!" Wyatt screamed.
Addison stood up from the bed and looked down at her brother.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure she doesn't yell at you."
Wyatt sat up in his bed and looked at Addison with worried eyes.
"You promise?" He asked.
Addison smiled and nodded. She then left the room. She walked into the living room where Charlotte was sitting on the couch with her face hidden in her hands.
"That boy! He'll never listen to me!"
Charlotte groaned behind her hands.
Addison rolled her eyes and sat herself down on the couch next to Charlotte."He's afraid of you. You need to be kinder." Addison said, "Now he wants his water."
Charlotte let out a long sigh and stood up from the couch and disappeared into the kitchen. She later came out with a cup of water and went to Wyatt's room. Addison left the room and went back to her room. She switched on the lights and sighed. She collapsed onto her bed and let out a long sigh. She sat back up and glanced over at a book lying on the ground. She picked it up and stared at its cover that painted a glorious picture of a man and a woman staring up at the stars as a spaceship flew overhead. This book was her favorite. Addison always dreamed of an adventure. She wanted to go on a great adventure with friends, she wanted this more than anything in the world. She was always attracted to space and stars. Every day she wondered what mysteries are hidden behind the black blanket of space. But this could never happen to her. Number one, she didn't have friends to go on this adventure with, two, these things are foolish fantasy. Addison slapped herself.
"Get that outta your mind, you idiot!" She yelled to herself. "It's never gonna happen!"
Addison collapsed back onto her bed and felt tears in her eyes. She covered her face and sobbed.
"Why am I like this. I can't believe I'm crying over made up crap!" Addison cried. "It's all in my head."
Addison rolled over onto her stomach and hid her face in her pillow and screamed a muffled scream.
"Someone please save me!" She screamed.
The feelings Addison felt you cannot describe. She hated herself for this. Her mind playing tricks on her, hoping someone would come to her rescue. Someone to save her from her misery. She just wanted a sweet home and friends but she didn't have one, not even one friend. Addison was alone.
