The Outcasts

Chapter 22 -The Reason-

Charlotte and Addison walked inside the apartment complex in awkward silence. Addison's mind was going everywhere. She really wanted an explanation quickly.

As they entered their apartment again  Wyatt was waiting for them, a frown on his face and a pack of fruit snacks in his hand.

"What took you so long?" He asked them as he popped a fruit snack in his mouth.

Addison smiled slightly and responded, "We were just talking." She patted him on the head.

Wyatt nodded and then left down the hall to his room to play. Addison turned to Charlotte and gave her a serious look, "Now please explain."

Charlotte nodded and they both sat next to each other on the couch. She took a deep breath and a rubbed her hands together.

"Okay, it's a long story but it has a good explanation." She began slowly.

Addison nodded, "Okay, go on."

"It all started when we first moved in with grandma and grandpa, you know, when dad left. Well he always had a strange connection with space and those who live in it, such as Illuminate..." Charlotte explained.

"How? How did he know about them?" Addison asked, her eyes begging for more.

"That I do not know." Charlotte said, "But one day I walked in on him in his office, he seemed panicked and that was the night he vanished. He told me to promise not to tell anyone about what was going on, he had to run away to work for this Illuminate man off into space. He told me everything I needed to know."

Addison looked down at the floor, "So father works for that evil man?"

"I guess so..." Charlotte replied.

"But then where is he now? Is he still there with him or did Illuminate kill him just like Andrew's family?!" Addison said standing up, and looking over at Charlotte.

"Andrew? Who's Andrew?" Charlotte asked.

"A friend of mine. I have to go tell him." Addison said as she rushed off to her bedroom.

She slammed the door behind and jumped onto her bed and grabbed the bot Andrew had given her. She trashed her other letter she had written earlier and began a new one.

'Andrew! I have something serious. Something big. My sister knows about Illuminate! She told me that apparently my father worked for him long ago and that's why he disappeared! Do who know anything about an assistant of Illuminate's or something that could lead me to learn more about my dad!? ~Addison'

Addison shoved her sloppily written letter into the bot and opened her window and turned on the bot and it quickly flew out the window and up into the sky. She watched as it hovered up into the sky.

Suddenly Charlotte busted into Addison's room. She swung the door open quickly.

"What are you doing!?" She asked, "What do you mean you are gonna tell this Andrew guy!?"

Addison quickly shut her window and turned around to face her sister. She slid off her bed.

"Okay, I guess I should explain to you now what happened to me." Addison replied stepping closer to her sister.

"Uh ya!" Charlotte gasped nodding her head and crossing her arms.

"So I was taken by a group of aliens, well I guess that's what you'd call them, but they called themselves the Outcasts and one of them was Andrew and his family had this vendetta or something against Illuminate and he killed the rest of Andrew's family but Andrew somehow escaped or something, I'm not exactly sure but one day while we were flying we crash landed on this weird planet and then while we were escaping I saw this man in the woods, who was made out of lights and then he vanished and we left, I told Andrew and they all started freaking out and stuff and apparently it was Illuminate and then the next night he appeared in the ship somehow and tried to kill Andrew but took me because Andrew was really protective of me and wanted to take something precious of his and I was locked with Illuminate for a few days and he gave me these brands," Addison showed Charlotte her scars on her wrists before she continued.

Charlotte eyed Addison sharply but let her continue.

"But then another one of the Outcasts named Danez came and saved me and stuff and then they returned me back here because they thought it would be to dangerous if I stayed. And that's my story in a nutshell..." Addison took a deep breath.

Charlotte was speechless. All this happened to her little sister?! She straightened herself, swallowed hard and nodded.

"Alrighty then..." Charlotte replied, "It makes sense..."

Addison smiled slightly. Charlotte kept staring at her sister in awe for a awhile until Addison awkwardly stared back at her, "Uh, what...?"

"Oh! Uh, nothing." Charlotte replied unfolding her arms and leaving Addison's bedroom.

An hour later Addison came out of her bedroom and found Charlotte on her phone on the couch and Wyatt asleep next to her. Addison wandered up to Charlotte.

"Um, I'm just gonna go on a small walk." Addison told her sister.

Charlotte nodded not even looking up from her phone so Addison just snuck out through the front door and out into the hallway of the apartment complex.

Addison began to walk down the hall when she heard a noise coming from a few apartments down from hers, that apartment was vacant last time she knew. Addison stopped walking and looked at the door. Someone must of moved in while she was gone. While she was looking at it the door opened and a boy walked out closing the door behind him. He then turned and looked at Addison. It was Jason!

"Addison!" He explained looking at her, "What are you doing here?"

Addison glanced around, "I live here..."

"Really!? What a coincidence." He laughed smiling at her.

Addison smiled back, "I didn't know you moved in here."

"Well I didn't know you lived here." He said laughing slightly, "So what you doing?"

"I was just going for a walk." Addison replied.

"Oh, nice. I was going to grab a drink at the soda place just down the block. Wanna come?" He asked her.

Addison shrugged, "I guess."

"Great!" Jason exclaimed, "Let's go."
