The week flew by so quickly but not without another encounter with Nick. The wall of restraint I had built to shield my outburst as well as my tolerance has begun to weaken threatening to spill out anytime. I began to fear what could happen if I lost control one of these days. The only source of solace was Berry and the unwillingness to hurt my mum once again.

"Earth to Leo." Someone's finger snapped me out of my reverie. "Seem lost in your world of thoughts." Bran grinned.

I exhaled. His black orbs sent shivers down my spine. He looked breathtakingly cute as he grinned before me with a glint in his eyes. It was a genuine grin.

"I guess." I noticed the class had ended and we both were left.

"Class had ended fifteen minutes ago." He walked to where he sat earlier. He picked a book then waved it in the air. "You would have slept here if I hadn't forgotten my note. I am glad I rescued you from the nightmare of sleeping in a locked school."

I chuckled. "I would have regained myself before that happens." I cleared my notes quickly into my bag. My hand pulled the collar of my sweater higher. I felt Bran's eyes watch my every move. From the corner of my eyes, I could make out the wary look he had on.

"What?" I raised a brow.

He shook his head. "Nothing. You ready?"

"For?" I asked dumbly.

He smirked. "Last time I checked, our route home is quite same way. So...."

"I thought you'd be rolling with the Marquez?" I tried to hide my excitement.

He rolled his eyes. "I asked them not to wait for me."

"Okay." I said unsure.

"they aren't the only friend I have." His smile returned.

I smiled back. "I guess."

"Come on. Let's get going." He nodded towards the door.

The corridors were deserted so was the parking lot. I shivered at the thought of spending a night in the class lost in my thoughts. Bran had been my saviour.

"I thought you'd gone." I heard Bran say to someone.

I couldn't control the shiver that ran down my spine as my eyes caught Henry Marquez's. He had a stern look on. His lips curled in a not-so-obvious but unmistakable scowl. His black eyes darted between Bran and I. I felt like I was being scrutinized under a microscope.

"I thought you'd gone too." His voice came out hard but it sent tingles throughout my body. I averted my eyes from his as he kept staring at me. I found a piece of paper sitting on the ground nearby suddenly interesting. I kicked it back and forth.

"I told Anna I'd forgotten a note back in History class. I have a summary to submit tomorrow." He explained.

He hummed. "You found more than your note." I couldn't help but glance at him. His face was void of any emotion yet his voice betrayed him somehow. I could sense a hint of protectiveness in his voice. I glanced nervously at Bran.

He shook his head exhaling loudly. "I happened to meet Leo and since we live in the same neighbourhood, I suggested we walk together." He raised a brow. "Care for more explanation?"

For reasons unknown, I felt threatened by Henry's presence. I felt like a prey while he is the predator. Henry Marquez has always been a mystery. He is cold, foreboding and more of a loner. It surprised not just me but almost everyone when he clicked with Bran. Anna, his sister had carved a spot for herself in the limelight as one of the most beautiful and popular in school but Henry faded into the background of his sister's popularity only surfacing to fight which always end up the talk of the week. Almost everyone in school always look forward to his run-ins with Arnold, the Director's son. Their beef had aged with them through the years. No one really understood the reason for their constant bickering.
