(Qing's POV)
The air in camp smells different. There is an unrest energy coming from the soldiers as I strode to search for my own troop.
What is going on? I just went to the forest to spent time with Dayu and I will come back to this? Soldiers clamoring to get ready, suiting up and practicing with their swords and daggers.
"What is going on?" I asked puzzledly at my soldiers as I walk to them while they gather on the fighting fence.
They gave me an equally puzzling look. "We don't know Captain. We were waiting for you and Second in Command Mei to tell us what is going on," one soldier said.
"And it's only morning," another one grumbled.
The others follow that disgruntled statement.
"Mei is not here?"
"He was with me," Jiang, newly arrived stood on my side. "Do you know what is going on?" I asked him.
He shook his head. "Wei also didn't know anything. It looks like they are asking soldiers to get ready but that's it. No instructions given aside from that." Jiang said.
"Are your soldiers ready? And where is my second in command?" I squint my eyes on him.
He shrugged, "It's his off day. I left him still sleeping..."
Me and my soldiers groaned. Some in dismay, some just plainly exasperated. We respect Mei's choice in lover but...
"We didn't need details Jiang!" I push him.
Jianh frown, "What? It's bad now to say that a person is sleeping?" He looked around us. Then his face darken, "Hey! Stop imagining me and Mei together! Stop thinking of Mei naked!"
"Ahhh!!!" My soldiers all groaned. Some even jump up and down while cringing.
I just sighed. I felt goosebumps on my body too but I stop myself from jumping like my soldiers.
"Just answer the first question then, is your soldiers getting ready too?" I asked Jiang.
He shook his head, "They never gave me the order to ready my soldiers. You didn't get the order too?"
No. Maybe because I am not in the base at the first place to receive the order. But I have a feeling that even if I am here, I will still not get that order like Jiang.
"What do you think is happening now?" I asked Jiang as we watch the frenzy of activities around us.
"My guess, in the scale of soldiers readying, a war?" We winced at the thought. "But if there is a war, all hands will be on deck. But they are leaving our two teams out, why leave out your top two teams if there is a war?" Jiang mussed.
Good point. "So it's not a war..."
Jiang nodded, "No war but getting these many soldiers ready, what are they planning? An invasion?"
My eyes widen, "A raid of sort?!" I think I am developing fear with the notion of a "raid".
Jiang shrugged, "We won't be sure as long as we don't ask someone from the higher ups. Us not getting any orders, it looks like they are keeping us in the dark." He frowned, "I think I don't like the idea of being left in the dark Qing ah. I am not a mushroom to be kept in a dark and gloomy place to grow, why are they keeping me from knowing?"
