Bare with me, my lovelies <3

"Ladies and gents, Van himself in the house!"
Cain didn't even try to stop himself from cursing. He dared a glance over his shoulder, and sure enough, Jack was right there smirking at him.
"I heard rumors man. Unbelievable rumors." He chuckled and slapped Cain's back with, "People are talking, say you are attending classes and shit. Look at you!" Jack gave him a light punch on the shoulder and stood in front of him.
"Hey, Jack." Cain finally said, warding his old friend's enthusiasm off. Jack was the only remenant of friends Cain had left, and it wasn't because Cain wanted him too.
Jack was just... way to persistent for his own good.
"It's nice to see you, buddy." Jack beamed, "let's hit the club later, yeah? It's been a long time since we hung out."
A long time was an understatement. Just when Cain wanted to get out of the invitation, his eyes caught red, and he instantly looked its way. His gaze quickly connected with Faye's, and he took a sharp breath in.
She didn't look away; instead, she waved slowly, smiling widely at him. At that moment, Jack's chatter died off and the only thing Cain could register was how he couldn't take his eyes off of her.
"Whoa, beauty." Jack suddenly said, snapping Cain's attention effectively. He scowled at Jack who was openly ogling Faye who was about twenty feet away.
"Come here, baby." Jack beckoned her and Cain watched as she looked between him and Jack then moving closer to them.
"Hi, Cain." Faye said, ticking a strand behind her ear.
"hi." Cain looked away, rubbing the back of his head.
"You two each other?" Jack raised a thick brew at them. "well, damn." He grinned idiotically. "introduce me to your girl, man."
"Oh, er. No." Faye quickly shook her head, glancing up at Cain unsurely, "we're just frie..."
"She's my tutor." Cain cut in, trying hard not to burn Jack with his glare.
"For real?" Jack frowned and Faye, thankfully, didn't seem off by Cain's interjection. She only smiled and nodded. "Huh?"
"I'm Faye." She beamed at Jack.
"Faye." Jack turned the charm on, "I like your name. Sound like a fairy."
Idiot.
Faye giggled and hugged her bag to her chest.
"Jack." He extended his hand, pulling her small hand to his mouth and kissing it, "I might need tutoring too, sweetheart."
Faye wasn't offended by this buffoon's flirting and only laughed, "I'll keep that in mind, Jack." She turned to Cain, but he noticed her cheerful expression drop when her eyes met his and he realized he must be scowling at her.
"Um, well. I have to get to class. Nice meeting you Jack." She smiled and turned on her heal before walking away.
Jack bark out a laugh once she was far enough, but still visible. He pulled Cain closer and lowered his voice in a futile attempt to spare her from hearing him, "If you're not hitting that, then is it cool for me to..."
Without hesitating and as if the reflex was involuntary, Cain smacked Jack on the back of his head, almost growling. "No fucking way! What's wrong with you?" Cain hissed back. Jack's expression dropped.
