Over the next few days, Belle stopped all contact with the three Gryffindors. Whenever they were walking down the corridors, she would tried to blend in with the crowd or find a different route. She would ignore them if they managed to be near her and talk to her.
She went back tot trying to keep her studies at least to her normal level, if not trying to achieve higher grades which still didn't happen. The bags beneath her eyes had returned but thank Merlin she hadn't fallen asleep in class again. It was Wednesday and that meant that she had an after class study session with Professor Lupin; first she had double DADA then the session. She sat in her usual seat and waited for the rest of the class to enter. Her equipment was already on the desk, and she had her book open reading over some notes from the previous lesson. "Good afternoon, Miss Florence." Lupin greeted.
"Afternoon, sir." She said her head still in her book.
"There is still fifteen minutes before class is due to start. How did you get here early?"
"I had a free period, and I thought it would be easier just getting here early." She replied, still reading over her notes.
"Very well, but you needn't need your books or any writing equipment today we are just having a recap on your third year lessons for the next two weeks, so that your memory is refreshed. Besides, studying too much will make it harder to remember when it comes to the exams." He said tapping his temple slightly.
Belle placed her equipment back into her bag carefully, making sure everything was neat and tidy. She then sat staring at her thumbs before Lupin started to move some tables and chairs. "Do you need any help?" She asked.
"If you don't mind. Could you possibly move the tables and chairs to the side of the room?" She nodded and said a few charms and the tables moved but the chairs stayed put. She sighed, and tried the chair again. They stayed still. Belle grumbled and then just picked up each chair and placed them on top of the desks. "You could use a charm, Belle." Lupin said noticing her carrying the seats.
"It didn't work." She replied. Lupin flicked his wand and he rest of the chairs moved. "Thanks."
Lupin nodded and levitated a large black wardrobe into the room. "Do you remember much from your boggart lesson?"
Belle's eyes widened but she said, "I remember the spell, and what boggarts are but I was not allowed to do the practical."
"Why is that? If you don't mind me asking." The professor glanced at her.
"McGonagall requested for me to not take part." She stated.
"Do you want to sit out of this one? You are welcome to complete the practical after class."
"If you wouldn't mind, Professor."
"Not at all." He smiled and he filed through some of his paperwork on his desk as other students entered. They all made their way to stand beside Belle who stood randomly at the side of the classroom. "Afternoon students!"
"Afternoon Professor." Everyone chimed.
"So for the next few weeks we shall be reviewing your third year curriculum. So can anybody guess what we are doing this lesson?"
Many hands shot up but he chose, Cho Chang. "Boggarts Professor."
"Correct! 10 points to Ravenclaw!" Lupin exclaimed, "can anybody tell me what boggarts are? Yes Miss Spinnet?"
"Boggarts are shapeshifters that take the form of a persons worst fear when confronted by them."
"Yes well done Alicia. Ten points to Gryffindor. Now anybody know the spell." He nodded at Angelina.
"Ridikulus."
"Ten points to Gryffindor! Now I want you to make an orderly, single file line in front of the wardrobe." Everyone but Belle got into the line, but that didn't stop her from getting weird looks from other students.
"SIR WHY IS FLORENCE NOT IN THE LINE!?" George yelled out.
"She has had permission from McGonagall to sit out the practical."
"I WANT TO SIT OUT TOO THEN!" Fred called.
"Mr Weasley, you do not have permission, stay in the line." Lupin said and opened the wardrobe so that a Ravenclaw could try out the task.
After all of the students had went the two hours were up, and the class was dismissed. "Are you ready, Belle?" He asked. She nodded warily. "Very well then."
He let the boggart back out of the wardrobe, although what he saw was not what he was expecting. Hands placed around the door and pulled the rest of the body from the wardrobe. A mass of blue hair trailed sour after the pale girl.
She was scared of herself.
"Come on Belle, you can do it. Just say the spell." Remus said as he watched her stare at the boggart before her.
"R-ridikulus!" She yelled flicking her wand. The Belle she saw turned into blue leaves that floated around the room like a forest nymph. She got over her fear and giggled as she watched the leaves float. Lupin watched the student mesmerised at what she found amusing, it made him even more curious as to why she was they way she was, and why she seemed familiar.
Lupin removed the wardrobe after getting boggart back into it, and placed the desks and chairs back into the correct places. He brought a chair in front of a desk and motioned for Belle to sit. "Thank you Professor for not making me do it in front of everybody."
"You are very welcome, now at this moment in time, you don't even have to say my lesson, I am willing to help you with others, what lessons do you need more guidance in?"
"Do you want me to be honest?" Lupin nodded, "all of them."
"Oh, okay." He replied slightly shocked, "how about we go through potions?"
"Please Professor, Snape isn't very kind when you do not know how to brew a potion." She replied blushing slightly.
"Yes, well, excuse my language, he can be a bastard at times."Lupin chuckled.
"At times? Professor you must be having a bubble, he's a bastard all of the time." She laughed.
"Having a bubble?" Lupin questioned taking a look at her potions homework.
"Yes, sir, having a bubble."
"Okay...calming draught. Okay it says to define what the draught is and the ingredients to the calming draught." He passed her the parchment paper. She took out her quill and began to write.
1.) What is the calming draught and what is it used for?
"Calming draught...okay so it makes you calm." She muttered.
A Calming Draught was a potion used to calm a person down after they had suffered a shock, trauma, or emotional outburst.
"Well done, Belle. That seems like the correct answer." Lupin grinned, praisingly at her.
2.) What are the ingredients to the draught? List them in the correct order of addition to the brew.
She listed as many ingredients and she could before Lupin ended up stepping in to help her. He reminded her of a few other ingredients and then she was done. "Thank you."
"Please, stop thanking me, once is enough, it really isn't an issue."
"Sorry."
"No need to apologise." He shook his head.
"Sorry."
