Third POV
Grey orbs widened at the sight in front of him, truly what he's seeing is some sort of illusion, right? Well, considering it's literally midnight and dim the lights coming from Law's porch is, maybe yes.
But the crying and whimpering made all ideas of an illusion fade away.
Law crouched down towards the basket in front of his feet, examining the content to make sure it wasn't some kind of bomb that was placed there for him, or even a fake baby just to make the spotted hat male to actually get up in the middle of the night.
Law gently reached out to the blanket, wrapping the bundle of cries before pulling back when (E/C) orbs looked up to him, and the cries stopped. Law looked around, searching for someone that may have stayed behind to make sure the child was taken in before leaving.
But no one was there.
Law turned his gaze towards the baby inside the basket before curling his fingers around the handle and picked it up, using his other hand to support the base of the basket before closing the door with his foot.
He placed the basket on the table, before going back to the door and locked it.
The moment he left the baby's sight, cries rang out as Law quickly locked the door and rushed back to the baby.
He didn't know why but his arms were quick to pick the baby and rocked it while humming a lullaby that some nurses hummed when they approached a crying baby. Maybe being a doctor wasn't a bad idea, but being a surgeon and carrying a baby isn't in his application form.
A paper was left on the soft bundle of blanket that acted as a mattress for the baby, Law picked it up with one hand and opened it with his ability. Law didn't seems to be fazed when he looked over to the baby because...
1. He didn't engage in any sexual interaction that could lead to pregnancy
2. He's too busy with his work to even think about being in a relationship
and 3. He's made sure to bring his own condom whenever he's with someone, just to make sure they won't trick him into something like this.
Anger boiled inside Law as he re-read the paper a couple of times, teeth gritting as he silently shifted his gaze back to the now sleeping bundle of happiness in his arms.
The mother of the baby didn't want the child, stating that the baby will be a burden to her and her life, and instead leaving her to him since he knew Law worked at a highly paid institution.
Whoever threw the baby away clearly knew him from the hospital he worked at.
And when he gets his hands on the lowlife, she will pay for what she did.
Law flipped the paper around, searching for something that will make the mother looked decent but none, not even a name was attached to it. Law sighed, his life as a surgeon will be more and more difficult having a baby that will take most of his time and being a surgeon need that time.
Law peeked inside the blanket, as a smile graced on his lips. The bundle in his arms is a girl, his eyes glossed slightly at the memories of his younger sister, Lami.
"How about (Y/N)?" Law thought as the baby opened her eyelids, revealing those beautiful (E/C) colored orbs, staring back at him and as if knowing what he was saying, she smiled before reaching her chubby fingers up to touch his face.
"Well (Y/N)-ya, I'm your father..." he stated without even a hint of hesitation, he knew raising a child will be hard but he will somehow managed it.
Law walked towards his room, calling a friend to help him with all the adoption papers, Robin. The woman was quite surprised by what Law had stated, but helped him when she heard how sincere and kind his voice was even when the baby interrupted their call.
Setting pillow beside the baby as he admired the quiet bundle of happiness underneath him, she was looking up him and making a grabbing motion as Law chuckled before resting beside her.
Somehow, Law had taken this situation rather calmly, even though he knew there's too much risk raising a young child while also having a job that took most of the time needed when taking care of a baby but somehow, deep in Law's heart, he's willing to take the risk.
He didn't regret taking young (Y/N) in, in fact, he even fell asleep while (Y/N) grabbed onto his fingers, afraid he will abandoned her like how her mother abandoned her.
Well, at first Law didn't regret it but when the sound of (Y/N)'s cries rang out just minuted before he's going off to work, he's rethinking it...
He's rethinking of asking Robin and Nami to look after his daughter, while he works.
"Yes, she is MY daughter, Sachi-ya.." was his words as eyes widened at him, as he chuckled while looking at the photo of a smiling baby (Y/N) on his wallpaper.
