Sabo's POV
My eyes fluttered open as I looked up to the white ceiling of the hospital that I was admitted a couple of days ago for a heart transplant. I could hear my own breathing from the oxygen mask the doctor place on my face before I was rolled into the operating table.
I turned my head to the side after hearing a soft gasp to see my beloved wife, Y/N sitting at my side, tears breaming at the side of her crinkling E/C orbs as she covered her trembling lips behind her soft fingers.
The sight made my lips curled as she stood up and called out the doctor while pressing onto the emergency button on my headboard.
Minutes later, the door flung open revealing a couple of familiar looking doctors and nurses sighing in relief at the sight of me, awakening from my slumber.
"Mr Sabo, I see you are awake, your wife has been beside you the moment you were wheeled out" the doctor was adoring Y/N's effort as a wife as she merely shies away from the sudden compliment.
"T-thank you..." I managed to wheeze out what words I could form from the containment of the oxygen mask.
Y/N got up and gingerly tugged onto the mask, allowing me to breathe fresh air and speak better. I thanked her as she smiled back, her face somehow looked more radiant than ever and the way her luscious H/C hair framed her perfect face made me feel like I am the luckiest guy to marry such a beautiful being.
"You were very lucky that a donor was present when we needed it, they were more than willing to give up their heart due to a tumour eating away their livers and internal digestion systems" the doctor explained as I merely smiled fondly and thanked whoever that donated their heart to me.
"Can I get to meet this person's family member? I really want to thank them personally" I voiced out my words as the doctors shifted their eyes towards Y/N before responding to my question.
"Your wife actually met them when you're in still in surgery" I looked over to Y/N who shyly nodded and kissed my forehead before the doctor announced my discharge to be in 2 days.
Weeks Later | Nightime | Your POV
My eyes snapped open in the dimly lit room, I turned my head to the side to see Sabo's peaceful sleeping expression. He was never this peace since his heart somehow got a virus stuck to it, not allowing oxygen to pass through when he's in peace. He was in constant pain and it pains me more to see him like that.
I got up, being careful not to wake up the sleeping man as I walked out, towards the study room to collect the item that I have been preparing for a couple of days, especially paying more attention when he was overseas days before his surgery.
My smiles faltered when I returned to our room, Sabo was on his back, snoring away like he never had a big surgery a couple of weeks ago, I placed the item on the nightstand and curled up towards Sabo once more, I lean more into his warmth as he grumbled before turning towards me, completely engulfing me in his strong arms, as if wanting to protect me from the harsh words.
"I love you..."
I muttered out my last words for the night before the darkness engulfed me.
The Next Day | Sabo's POV
My eyes fluttered open as they wandered towards the blinders of our window, usually, Y/N was the one that would open the blinders to wake me up followed by her cute giggles and warm hugs.
I looked down to see Y/N was still tucked in my arms, face looking so peaceful that it makes me guilty to wake her up.
My fingers travelled towards her cheeks to brush away the strands of hair that had fallen onto her supple skin.
My eyes widened as the haziness fades away as I leaned onto my forearm to rest my other hand on her cheek to check her temperature to feel her warmth was gone and was replaced by coldness.
"Y/N? Hey, wake up!" I wailed and was now full on shouting at her as I shook her body violently before my eyes travelled towards an F/C envelope that was placed on the nightstand. My fingers shook violently as I dialled up the emergency services, informing them of Y/N's condition and they will be quick to come here.
As I waited for the ambulance to arrive, I quickly scooped her up, placing her onto the couch to make the process for the ambulance faster as I quickly ran up to our room once more, collecting the envelope as I strutted down to open the doors for the arriving doctors.
I could literally hear my heart broke at the words written in the letter inside, they were many nicknacks from me and Y/N's journey together that she somehow collected silently without me knowing.
They were simple words, but it managed to break me up into pieces.
Sabo,
I loved and is am loving you with all my heart, you completed me. You may not know and I was not planning to make sure you do not know of this incident, but time was not on my side at all but all my love? Will always be with you.
Please keep good care of your heart next time, it is filled with my love for you.
-Y/N, your beloved wife.
