Venus walked out confidently on stage, a fake smile plastered to her lips as she looked to the crowd who were chanting her name. She smiled at Caesar who reached for her hand, placing a kiss on the top of it, before leading her over to their seats. The girl waved slightly at the crowd, before the purple haired man beside her quieten them down.
'Hello, Venus Hereford! I must say you are look lovely tonight!' Caesar cheered.
'Why thank you, Caesar. I'm quite loving your outfit as well,' She smiled causing her to almost cringe at her hypocritical response.
'Isn't she just charming,' Caesar yelled enthusiastically before he turn to the cheer who cheered; 'Now, Venus do you have anything to say to anyone special?'
'No, sadly Caesar, I don't.'
'Oh, well. What about to the people of Panem?'
Venus smirked, 'Panem, I will be coming home. You watch me on your screens, cheer my name and help me when I need it, because when I return I will visit all those you helped me through this. For you kept me alive. I will not let you down.'
'Isn't that so sweet? Venus Hereford, your Tribute for District Ten, everybody!'
The girl stood and waved with her fake smile plastered to her face, before she turned to Caesar as he placed a kiss to her knuckles; telling her to go stand with the others afterwards. She smiled once again towards the crowd before she walked out to backstage, her fake emotion dropped from her face as she scanned the room. No one looked at her as she moved to stand next to Peeta Mellark, or the boy who she was risking her life for.
They didn't speak, and that's what she liked about him; he didn't try to make small talk, he just waited for her to start the conversation. He was nothing like Katniss, she was shy but bold and would try to talk to the girl. Peeta turned and sent the her a small smile, which she returned before it disappeared when Katniss stopped in front of her.
'Venus,' She hissed.
'Katniss,' The girl from Ten replied coolly; 'I'll see you around Peeta.'
'Uh, yeah, see you around,' Peeta stuttered.
Venus sent a fake smile and wave towards the pair before she turned and left, her eyes flickering around the room as she tried to find Finnick or Johanna. Though she found neither, the girl walked towards her uncle who was standing by himself with a drink in hand. He didn't say anything to her for a while, instead they stood in silence until she was called to side stage for the final goodbye to the victors.
