The rhythmic drum beats echoed up the way, Venus sitting on the outside of the small group of Victors she was with. Beetee sat across from her in the other line, Enobaria beside him. She looked up at Coin as the woman walked forward, standing upon the platform that Snow would once stand on. She was yet to bring her eyes to Snow, the man tied up to a whipping post in front of her. She looked up at Peeta as he placed a light hand on her shoulder, before leaning down to what would've looked like kissing her hair.
'You alright?' He whispered.
'Yeh, I'm good,' She nodded.
'I'm right here if you're not.'
The girl looked over to Finnick who stood between Annie and Enobaria, and not because he wanted to. Coin had set up the groups, making it seem like she wanted the married couple away from each other. Venus turned her head when she heard hundreds of thousands of heavy footsteps approaching, watching the final length of Katniss' walk toward them. The Girl on Fire looked their way as she passed them, but her face remained impassive as she came to stand a few metres in front of them.
'Welcome to the new Panem,' Coin called; 'Today, on the Avenue of the Tributes, all of Panem, a free Panem, will watch more than a mere spectacle. We are gathered to witness an historic moment of justice. Today, the greatest friend to the revolution will fire the shot to end all wars. May her arrow signify the end of tyranny and the beginning of a new era... Mockingjay, may your aim be as true as your heart is pure.'
Katniss stood for a second before she drew her bow and pulled an arrow from her quiver, readying it. She pulled back on the string, aiming directly at Snow who smirked madly. Venus doubted for a second that what Haymitch had told her was true, before it quickly diminished as she raised her bow and fired the shot. The yells started instantly as the arrow landed straight in Coin's heart, the woman collapsing on her knees before falling of the edge of the podium.
The Hereford girl laughed loudly, looking over to Haymitch who smirked her way. She jumped when someone pulled her back as the rebels ran forward, two guards pulling her through the crowd. Venus watched as they pooled around Snow, shouting for him to die. Her laughter turned into a smirk, her eyes never leaving the group until she was pulled into the stables. She was left there then, to wait for Finnick to make his own way through the crowd. She began laughing again when he ran toward her, tears of joy and relief pouring from her eyes.
'We did it,' She sobbed as she wrapped her arms around him; 'We're free, Fin.'
'We're free, Ve,' He replied before kissing her hard.
She sniffled as he pulled away, choking out a laugh before she wiped her nose and eyes.
'Let's get the horses and Tommy, and let's go home,' Finnick suggested.
