Venus' room was pitch black as she tried to look around, the power was still out and nothing moved outside her room that she could hear. It was silent, eerily silent. It sent shivers down her spine. Usually there would be the quiet murmur of nurses passing, or the sound of stomping feet as the peacekeepers made their rounds; or even the pained scream of a fellow victor being tortured. But now there was nothing, and it made dread settle in her stomach.
The girl's breathing was raspy as she fiddled with her fingers, her eyes were open though she could see nothing. But as she heard the sound of a door slamming open, her whole body tensed and her heart began to beat at a hundred miles an hour. Her last beating had been a fair while ago, many hours she could easily say. She wasn't ready for the beating now, her last was the worst of them all; hitting every sore spot on her body, including her neck which was now a deeper shade of black and covered in scabs from the dry blood.
Footsteps echoed up the hall, they treaded ever so cautiously that they were almost silent. Venus could feel a drop of sweat roll down her forehead as a thought popped into her head, she was the first room in the hallway; another victor across from her. If whoever was here were to try and find them, she would be one of the first found and hopefully not killed. Her eyes flickered around the dark room, before suddenly all the lights came back on; blinding her momentarily.
Her eyes clenched shut at the sudden brightness, before she opened them slowly; blinking a few times to regain her sight. She looked around the familiar white room, sighing at the knowledge of no one else being in the room with her. The girl looked down at her restraints to find they were still there, and no IV lines were connected to her as the continuous and yet calming beep of her heart monitor sounded through the room again.
But as Venus looked towards her door, black shadows danced in front of them; weapons clear in their hands. Though she knew they weren't peacekeepers because of their uniforms, but it still didn't make her feel any safer at the thought of strangers outside her room. Their voices were muffled as though they were speaking through masks, allowing her to one hear certain words; the main one being Peeta.
As four figures stalked past her door, two others standing just after it; waiting for whatever signal they supposed to be given. But as her door slid open, her voice caught in her throat as her breath hitched. Two people in black uniforms and masks stalked into her room with their guns raised, they moved towards her slowly; cautious as to not freak her out. And as her door slide shut behind her, she let out a raspy scream and began to struggle against her restraints as they got closer.
'Miss, we're going not going to hurt you. We're from District 13, and we're here to rescue you,' A feminine voice spoke from her right.
'No, District 13 doesn't exist. It was destroyed years ago. Get away from me!' Venus yelled painfully.
