It was slow the next morning at the Hereford's, both the siblings rose at their usual time of dawn before the headed out to check fences and the cattle. Neither of them spoke as they worked, Venus trotting glumly alongside Tommy; her eyes scanning the fence line, never once looking at her brother. She didn't want to in fear that she might break down at the thought of leaving him, it killed her. He was only twelve after all, he didn't deserve to lose his whole family. No one did.

As the reached the back corner, Venus spun Jackson towards home and kicked him up into gallop; silently challenging Tommy to a race which he agreed to as he moved Sylvia into a gallop. They didn't cheer or yell, it was a silent race; Venus soaking in the sound of pounding hoofbeats. She placed a messy knot in her reins and let them go, throwing her hands in the air as her hips and legs keeping her in the saddle as Jackson soared over the ground. She would never forget this feeling, and if she died in that god damn arena this would be the memory recalled before she was taken away from Tommy.

The girl looked over her shoulder to see Tommy pushing his black mare harder as he tried to over take her, but she wouldn't let him. With her hands still off the reins, she pushed her gelding harder; Jackson immediately responding as he moved his hooves faster across the ground. Soon the house came into view and Venus slowly pulled her horse back to a walk, Tommy doing the same. They got off and untacked their horses, Tommy washing Sylvia as Venus hugged Jackson tight as they waited for the hose.

'Thank you for being a good horse, the best I've trained yet. I love you Jacks,' She whispered to the grey.

She places a kiss to his nose before taking the hose from her brother and washed him down, sweat pouring from his back and onto the ground.

'I'll go heat up breakfast,' Tommy called.

'Ok,' She called back as she scraped the water off Jackson.

Venus hugged him once more before she turned him out, watching as he and Sylvia cantered up the paddock; playfully kicking out at each other. She smiled softly before she headed inside to shower and get changed into a nice dress, knowing the Peacekeepers would be there soon enough to collect her.

The smell of warm porridge hit her nose the moment she entered the kitchen after she changed, Tommy sitting at the table with a bowl; hers across from him. She sat at the table and ate quietly, the dog's scoffing their food down beside them. It was all of five minutes before there was a loud knock at the front door, causing the Hereford siblings to look at each other; Tommy's eyes welling up with tears.

'Miss Hereford, it's time to go,' A deep voice called from outside.

'One minute,' Venus called back in reply.
