*~*~*~*~
Venus freaked out the moment she opened her eyes to find herself in a hospital bed in a dimly lit tent, her heart monitor beeping rapidly. Her breaths were raspy and her head pounded, but she screamed anyway as a nurse approached her.
'Sweetheart, you're ok,' The woman tried to calm her.
'Get away from me!' She screamed as she kicked off her sheets.
'Venus, you're safe.'
The girl didn't hear a word as she struggled to remove the IV from her arm, her hands shaking from fear. She screamed as the tent door opened, Haymitch walking in quickly with wide eyes; Finnick right behind him.
'Venus,' Haymitch called; 'Sweetheart, you're ok. You're safe.'
Finnick rounded the bed, pulling her hands away from the cannula in her hand. She struggled against him, screaming as she looked up at him with teary eyes.
'Princess, you're safe. I'm right here, Ve,' He cooed.
'No!' She screamed.
'I'm right here.'
'No.'
Her whole body fell numb when she heard Tommy's voice, her head falling onto her husband's chest.
'Ve, it's ok,' The young boy said softly as he clambered onto the bed.
Venus started to sob then, pulling her little brother into her chest as Finnick pulled her into his. Haymitch waved the nurse off, watching as she left the room before turning to look back at the trio. The blonde man helped his wife back to sit on the bed properly, not leaving her side as he took her hand; Tommy cuddling into her side. She looked up at Haymitch, another sob leaving her mouth as he approached her on the other side of the bed; kissing her hair.
'What happened?' She croaked.
'Double bombs. You were caught in the second round,' Haymitch explained.
'You saved my life, Ve,' Tommy chimed.
'What?'
'You wrapped me in your jacket, you saved me.'
She looked to Haymitch for confirmation, the man nodding.
'If you hadn't have done what you did, he would be dead,' He told her.
'Are you hurt?' She asked Tommy.
'Just a few burns on my legs, nothing serious. Not like yours.'
'What are mine?'
'Third degree burns to your back and arms. Second degree to your neck, legs and parts of your face. You're luck to be alive,' Finnick rattled off.
