Venus looked over her shoulder at Finnick excitedly, tugging him along through the halls of the hospital. The confusion that sat on his face only made her smirk, he had no idea what she had in store for him. She smiled at Ms Everdeen as they passed her, pausing in front of a closed door.
'Ve, what are we doing here?' The blonde before her asked for the millionth time.
'Behind this door is your answer,' She motioned to the door handle; 'Go ahead.'
He looked at her for a second before cautiously opening the door, not knowing what to expect. The room was dimly lit, his eyes landed on the figure laying on the bed and the nurse tending to whoever was in there. The nurse looked up and smiled at him, his breath catching in his throat as the person in the bed turned to look at him. The girl was rushing toward him in an instant, laughing crazily.
'Annie,' Finnick sighed as he hugged her.
'Finnick,' The red haired woman replied.
Venus smiled as the two friends reunited, gathering her gown in her hands to lift it up off the floor. She could hear Annie crying as she hugged Finnick, the red haired woman physically a mess. Cuts lined her face, bruising on her skin and her hair was a matted mess; but she had looked worse on arrival.
'How?' Finnick asked.
'Venus,' Annie sobbed; 'She saved me.'
The blonde looked directly at his wife with wide eyes, tears dripping down his cheeks.
'When?' He queried.
'The night before last. Boggs helped me get out, we found Annie in her ruined house,' Venus replied with a shrug as though it was nothing; 'I'm not the only one who cries in my sleep.'
Within two strides, Finnick had his arms wrapped around her; his head buried into the crook of her neck.
'Thank you,' He whispered.
'Don't worry about it,' She replied.
He pecked her lips as he moved to stand, before quickly rushing back over to Annie and helped her back into bed. The Hereford girl moved to stand by her husband, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder as he sat in the seat by the bed; continuing to silently cry as he looked over the girl who was like his sister.
'How was the wedding?' Annie asked.
'Good,' Finnick answered before looking up at Venus; 'It's even better now.'
'Sorry, I missed it.'
'There will always be next time,' Venus chuckled.
'Next time?'
'When we take over the Capitol, we're gonna remarry in either Four or Ten. At home.'
Annie smiled, 'I can't wait.'
