' I'm scared, ok? Really scared all the time. '

Her ears were ringing when she finally opened her eyes when her hands were ripped away from her head, her blue eyes meeting Finnick's ocean green ones. Venus could hardly hear what he was saying as he yelled at her, everything around her was being muffled as her heart beat thudded in her ears.

'Venus, we have to go!' The blonde yelled at her.

'Venus, let's move,' Scout called.

The girl stood and bolted when she saw the black tar falling from the closed doors, grabbing her staff from the ground. She leapt up the first step of the amphitheatre, Finnick right beside her. Though she half halted when she saw Peeta tackle Katniss to the ground, but didn't make any move to help her.

She jumped up onto the next step before she turned around when she didn't see Finnick beside her anymore, her eyes wide when she found him on the step below. Another scream echoed through the air with her own, Mitchel strung up in the middle of the amphitheatre.

'Venus, go!' Finnick screamed.

She stumbled up the next step, sending the tip of her staff through a glass door before she ran inside with question. Venus could hear everyone yelling as they followed after her, the black liquid tar continuing to fill the basin. She ran up the stairs, not stopping until she went to round the platform to go up the next set, to find they weren't anymore stairs to run up. The rest of the group joined her, the tension in the air was nauseating.

The Hereford girl sunk down into the corner, gripping for dear life at her staff as her other hand shook as she ran it through her hair trying to calm herself down. Her eyes were trained on her knees, her chest heaving as Finnick knocked Peeta out with an injection and rushed over to check on her. He took her face in his hands, bringing it up to make her look at him; their gazes holding.

'You're ok,' He whispered; 'You're safe.'

'I'm ok. I'm safe,' She muttered.

'I'm right here.'

'It's slowing down,' Cressida commented as the liquid licked the top step before receding; 'Gamemakers are still putting on quite a show.'

Everyone but the married couple relaxed then, leaving Finnick to continue to calm down his wife.

'Venus. Breathe,' He muttered; 'You're ok. I'm right here and I love you.'

She drew in long breaths, nodding when she felt herself calm down enough to be on her own. The blonde kissed her forehead and released her face, but didn't make any move to go anywhere else but beside her.

'Hey, we better move,' Finnick called as he looked around; 'If peacekeepers didn't know where we were, they do now.'

'Those surveillance cameras caught us,' Castor added.

Jackson continued to try and gain radio contact, but no one replied.

'This is a bad spot,' Scout stated.

'I'm with him. We need to move now,' Gale urged.

'I can't get a signal,' Jackson finally sighed.

'You don't say?' Venus muttered as she stood.

'But I can get us back to base. Everdeen, give me the holo.'

Katniss looked down at the device in her hand, making no move to hand it over.

'Everdeen, what did I just say? The holo,' Jackson sneered; 'Come on, let's go.'
