Venus pushed her way through the scrub, watching as Katniss occasionally threw a pebble at the forcefield so everyone knew where it was. The group was yet to face another Victor since the beginning; with the arena being so big, it was hard. But they were glad they didn't have to kill anyone else yet, the Hereford girl was especially grateful; not wanting her little brother to see her as a killer.
'Hang on,' Katniss said as she paused.
The blue eyed girl behind her huffed in annoyance, crossing her arms over her chest, 'What now, Everdeen?'
But the girl from Twelve ignored her, walking away before she began climbing a tree. Venus shook her head and sat on the ground beside Peeta, throwing her staff down in front of her before she laid on the forest floor. No one spoke, instead they just sat there silently; looking around. They were all covered in sweat from the humid weather, their hair still damp from when the games started.
'The force field,' Katniss' voice stated from out of nowhere; 'It's a dome. We're at the edge of the arena. I couldn't find any signs of fresh water.'
'It's gonna get dark soon. We'll be safe with our backs protected. We should set up camp,' Finnick suggested; 'Take turns sleeping. I can take first watch.'
The girl on Fire rolled her eyes with a humorless laugh, 'Not a chance.'
'Honey, that thing I did back there for Peeta? That was called saving his life.'
'And if we wanted to kill either of you, we would've done it by now,' Venus hissed with an evil smirk.
The girl stood then, wrenching her staff from the ground before marching off to find some food; Finnick following in pursuit. She was over Katniss' insecurity about them, like she had said if she had wanted to kill them she would've done it by now. Long ago, actually. But she knew for the sake of the rebellion she couldn't kill either of them, no matter how much the Everdeen girl annoyed her. Finnick helped Mags up the ledge, before he set her down on the ground so she could sleep as he took watch. He then walked over to Venus, who was currently moving her staff around in a bush to try and scare out any edible animals.
'You should get some rest,' He stated.
'I don't sleep,' She replied shortly.
'You need to.'
'No, I don't. I trust you to watch over me, but I don't trust her as far as I can throw her.'
'Please, Ve. I'll watch over you.'
The girl from Ten ran her tongue over her teeth a few times, before she sighed, 'Fine. But if anything goes wrong, I'll kill her.'
