ELYSANDRA'S POV:

I slide into the passenger seat of Atifa's truck reluctantly. In the back two rows sit six other girls who Atifa introduces as Sofia, Chantel, Jayde, Miranda, Caitlin, and Kendall. They're all gorgeous, which I expected. What I didn't expect, however, is for them to be as diversely beautiful. The cheerleaders I'm used to are all tall, blonde, white, and skinny. These girls, while all skinny, look very different from each other while still all stunning.

Sofia is blonde with tanned skin and a beautiful pout. She's very racially ambiguous. Chantel is also very racially ambiguous, but her hair is a touch darker and her facial structure is to die for. Her features almost look Native American. Jayde is a beautiful black girl with raven hair and the cutest little nose. She's super curvy, probably reeling in the most boys. Miranda has fair skin, a heart shaped face, long, brown wavy hair, and an athletic physique. She's tall and thin. She could be a model. Caitlin also looks athletic, but she's not quite as tall. She has freckles, fine, brown hair, and a slimmer face. Lastly, Kendall looks like someone you'd see on television. She's white with dark brown hair and features that can only be described as flawless. Her body is modelesque, just a touch shorter. I'm in awe. My admiration is interrupted when Atifa utters my name.

"Girls, this is my friend, Ely. She's super nice and -" Atifa introduces before she's cut off.

"Oh! You're the girl who's dating Justin Bieber, right? The star hockey player?" Chantel asks excitedly.

"Duh, CJ," Kendall answers. "What have you been living under a rock?"

"No," Chantel rolls her eyes. "It's just that I wasn't sure if I've seen her before, but now I know it's her. I saw her dancing with him at a party. She's so good," she gushes as if I'm not even there.

"You dance?" Caitlin asks curiously.

"Um, no, not really. I mean, just for fun, nothing serious," I answer nervously.

"Oh, she dances alright. Better than Madison did, easily," Chantel answers, as if I hadn't.

"Madison was on the squad, but she got knocked up," Atifa fills me in.

"That's why we have an extra slot for you at the spa," Caitlin adds.

"Caitlin! That is so rude," Jayde comments in the cutest British accent.

"Sorry!" Caitlin says genuinely.

"Oh my gosh! Guys! Ely should take Madison's place!" Chantel realizes aloud.

"Yes! Ely, you should so join the squad! You're so pretty, you can dance, and you're dating a star athlete! You'd be perfect!" Kendall adds happily.

"Um... I don't know. I really have only ever danced for fun and... it just doesn't sound like my kind of thing," I excuse, completely caught off guard.

"Ely, I really do think you'd be a great addition to the team," Atifa comments. "I think you'd really love it, but it's totally up to you. Why don't you just come to practice next week and see how you feel about it? If you don't like it, you can be done with it. If you do, you can stay. No pressure. How's that sound?"

"I guess it's worth a try," I answer, not really in a position to say no. I have to spend the rest of the day with these girls, I don't quite think turning them down before we even get to the spa is the greatest of plans.

I spent the rest of the ride to the spa listening to the girls explain what cheer is like. I'm unable to get a word in at all, but I do learn quite a lot of things. You get an automatic friend group, which couldn't hurt. You get social security; apparently, if I were on the cheer squad, the whole twitter bullying thing would've never happened to me. No one would've tried that with a cheerleader. And it's fun, so I'm told.

By the time we reach the spa, I'm actually looking forward to practice. I'm also suffering from sensory overload. Listening to seven cheerleaders for an extended period of time is mentally exhausting, and I feel like I've never needed a spa treatment more.

We all get out of the car, check in, and head to the locker rooms to change. I almost hate to admit it, but I'm actually kind of excited. Who knew?

Justin knew. I pull out my phone briefly to shoot him a text.

Me: Thank you

Boyfriend: Told you so (:
