"From what I know about you, I'm surprised you've managed to stay this long."

Erik stopped walking and turned around. There was standing Charles Xavier. He knew that he wouldn't so easily be able to get the files and walk away when there was someone in the room who was so strongly linked to the mind that he could easily be found. Not to mention his girlfriend was like his little spy. He felt like there was someone there but he couldn't see them. She sure was a crafty girl. But that didn't mean he had an interest in staying there any longer.

He had a mission. He had to find Shaw on his own and play by his own terms and not worry about what anyone else would say about it. He didn't want to have the clearance or authority from a large government, he wanted to kill the man that tortured him and took his mother away from him. And he wasn't going to let anything stop him from going so. Not the CIA. Not Rose. Not Charles.

"What do you know about me?" He questioned.

"Everything," he responded.

"Then you know to stay out of my head," he spat.

"I'm sorry, Erik, but I've seen what Shaw did to you. I've felt your agony. I can help you," Charles urged.

"I don't need your help," he insisted.

"Don't kid yourself. You needed my help last night.
It's not just me you're walking away from. Here you have the chance to be part of something much bigger than yourself," he explained, a little bittersweetly. Erik started to actually listen to what he was saying. "I won't stop you leaving. I could. But I won't. Shaw has got friends. You could do with some."

From there Charles turned and entered the building. He decided not to read Erik's mind. He knew he took the files but be ado knew that he would come back. And that didn't take a mind reader. He would just have to be patient with a man who had none. He came back into the building, once he did he looked in front of him where was just blank wall slowly revealed itself to be his gorgeous girlfriend had been listening in on their conversation outside. He didn't mind but she seemed a little disappointed by the anticlimactic end of Erik leaving. She very impressed by his abilities and wished to see them more and more.

"Do you honestly think he will come back? From what you told me, what happened to him, what happened to his family, what he wants to do, what had been driving him all these years of rage and hatred. I might not be a professor of psychology, but I have been in school long enough to know that he is a broken man. He needs help Charles, but he doesn't want any of it. He wants closure. And locking up Shaw won't be enough for him. Do you think you can do that? Do you think you can change his mind?" She asked, "Erik, he is complicated. And now I'm scared that his need for vengeance will be his downfall and take him into a dark place where you and I will never belong."

He smiled and looked down at her worried face, she was looking down at the ground. For a woman who just knew the man she was already so worried about his well being. She was fascinated by complex minds, that's why she wanted to be a psychologist. He placed a hand on her shoulder. She looked up at him and he smiled. "Darling, you are a special kind of person. You looked worried sick about a man you just met. You are a kind woman, and I promise you that this is not over and Erik will come back. He has to. And we'll welcome him with opened arms, okay?"

"Okay," she nodded. But somewhere in her mind she knew that might not be possible. But she always wanted to have faith in Charles, and that he would be right.

The next morning they were seated in the head of the Division X's office. They were trying to find a way that Charles could locate Shaw using his telepathic abilities so that way it couldn't be tracked and destroyed unless he died of course. It was just him and Rose at the table with him, she would be filling in while Erik was gone since he had not yet returned.
