They were all sitting in the plane with an uncomfortable silence. They had only taken off not too long ago. Hank was piloting the jet as he was the only one with the knowledge of how to fly anything. Rose on the other hand was just seated, she was supposed to take the medicine to keep her upbeat. But she wasn't, so she was more alert, less tired, and much more emotional. She was looking out the window at the blue sky and white fluffy clouds. What a beautiful and serene view. Charles was seated, looking at his wife who seemed so broken, he regretted leaving her. He looked at Erik, the man he blamed for everything that happened.
You could cut the tension with a knife. The guilt, blame, questions, and overall emotions were complex. Logan was having a hard time keeping up with everything that was happening in the room and why the three that used to be as close as you could be, all seem to resent each other or have mixed feelings towards each other. Rose went to live with her parents because of metal issues, which caused a rift between her and her husband. Charles was depressed over his legs and Raven. And Erik was....well Erik. His actions alone made them both very angered towards him and Erik related subjects.
Erik spoke up after almost an hour of silence. He looked across the table at his old friend who still had his eyes fixed on his wife. "How did you lose them?"
Charles turned to him, he sighed to himself and decided to just let it slide and give him an answer if they would have to work together for the time being. He would have to eventually, not that it was any of his business. "The treatment for my spine affects my DNA."
"You sacrificed your powers so you could walk?!" Erik asked, outraged by the claim. He couldn't believe Charles would get rid of his powers in order that he could walk again. That was against everything they established eleven years ago when they were friends.
"I sacrificed my powers so I could sleep," he corrected, feeling himself holding back tears. All the memories rushing back. Every single problem coming into his mind. He turned his head and saw his wife was now facing both of them and listening. He changed the subject and changed his tone after hearing the introjections on his choices by Erik."What do you know about it?"
"I've lost my fair share," Erik mentioned.
He laughed coldly at the remark. "Dry your eyes, Erik." Suddenly the mocking attitude, that he had down was starting to turn into more anger. "It doesn't justify what you've done."
"You have no idea what I've done."
"I know you took the things that meant the most to me." His wife looked at him, she didn't say anything to him but this fight was making her feel bad. She just wanted it to be over and have them all return to being more quiet than this. But that action did not go unnoticed by Erik, who would see the emptiness in her eyes and how upset his words were making her.
"And yet you married the perfect woman." He glared at him, which made Rose look at the man in shock of the comment about her being perfect, far from the truth. But that was what people always wanted and thought she was. He turned to Charles and continued, "maybe you should have fought harder for them."
Charles stood up angrily, "If you want a fight Erik, I will give you a fight!"
"Charles," Rose shook her head, hoping to end this before it escalated too quickly into a real fight.
"Sit down!" Logan yelled, not having any of it.
Erik stood up. "Let him come."
