Distractions are good to pass the time. On the days Kari can't call me I distract myself from the fact that I'm not her real mother.
After I found out who Kari was I promised myself that I would do everything in my power to protect and provide for her. I promised to be her shoulder to cry on, the one to fight her battles, and most importantly the one she can trust.
She trusted me to win the case for her and I failed. But I never gave up on her. A few years later after her 13th birthday, I tried to reclaim full custody but the judge said he wouldn't let me. Even though she was at the age were she could decide where she wanted to live.
Dave's mother was very sympathetic about my situation. So whenever she had Kari, which was all the time. She would bring her over so I could see her.
Kari's coming to live with me in the fall and I know it's gonna cause an issue. But this time I won't lose.
