I really hope I lived up to your expectations for their date! The chapters are getting longer and longer I'm afraid. I'm never going to cut them down. I prefer long ones! (:

Chapter Ten

Raylan’s POV

As soon as she came back to reality, she slammed the door in my face. I frowned, but knew this might happen. After all that I put her through, I don’t blame her. She has every right to be upset. I heard her screaming at Winter.

“YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING, WINTER?! YOU SERIOUSLY DID THIS TO ME?! YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE MY BEST FRIEND!” I could feel her fuming from outside. I would hate to be Winter right now.

“I AM!” There was a short pause, “I am being your best friend, even if you don’t see it now. He’s your mate, you’re going to have to stop running from him. He’s going to win you over eventually; just let it happen, girl. I promise you’ll have fun tonight.” I could almost see the grin she has on her face. Whenever she knew won something, she would put that grin on. I’ve fallen victim to that smile quite a few times.

“It won’t be any fun!” Ocie said. I was kind of hurt until I heard the next part and finally understood. “If you planned the whole thing, it would be any fun. I won’t know him.”

“I didn’t plan it babygirl…” She wouldn’t dare tell her now.

“Then how the hell would he know what I like!?” Ocie was pleading with her voice. She wanted to know, I was just afraid Winter would let it out of the bag.

“Well, your diary… you know how it’s been missing for a couple of days..?” It was killing me not to see this reaction. I opened the door, but still stayed outside.

Ocie was shaking. I could see her little figure rattling to let her wolf take over. There would be a fight if I let this happen. “Tell me you did NOT give HIM my diary! Tell me NOW Winter!”

“Go out with him tonight, let him be your everything…“ Winter was retreating, saying that she didn’t want to fight. I have to get Ocie out of here before she does something she’ll regret in the morning.

“Ocie, baby, come with me. I promise you, Winter had nothing to do with tonight other than to get you dressed up. That’s all she planned with me. This night will be perfect. I promise.” I reached for her hand making sure I didn’t cross the threshold of her house. I didn’t want to have to fight her father tonight. That’d ruin everything.

“I will go, but just because I don’t want to kill my best friend.” With that, she turned and headed straight to the driveway. She then noticed that I didn’t have my truck.

“Where the hell is your truck?” she asked, a little miffed.

“Sawyer is bringing the truck to the end of the driveway. I didn’t want you to runaway honestly. I didn’t want to give it away that I was here.” She laughed a little and nodded her head to start walking. I waved goodbye to Winter and prayed I just didn’t end their friendship.

Once we reached my truck, Sawyer shifted and ran back home. I helped her into the truck because of the lift on it; I wasn’t sure whether she could do it herself. I finally got to admire her before I helped her up. She’s wearing a pure white dress that came down to her knees. It looked like something from the fifties and fit her just right. Due to the fact that we’re half human, she has a little meat on her bones, which I like. I hate when girls look like twigs. She could eat and that was a great sign. Her heels were a bright shade of red. Her hair was in soft brown ringlets that fell to her lower back. Her eyes were green today that just set her look off. I was caught admiring her when she cleared her throat a few times.
