Chapter Seventeen.

Chapter 17

Ocie’s POV

I feel the warmth of the sun hit my face in the early morning light. Ugh, yesterday was a long, horrid nightmare that just keeps replaying.

Like when I told my parents I was moving into the Alpha’s house...

“Like hell you are. Ocie I’ve only just met him.” My dad said, looking more pissed than I’d ever seen him. “Now, you tell us you have TWO mates? Oc, things like this just don’t exist.”

I turn to give Raylan an “I told you so” look. He only shrugs. On the way over here, I told Ray that it wouldn’t work. They would never believe me. I sigh, “But daddy, it is. I will only be across town. Not  being married is a problem for you guys, but I’m getting ready to be the Alpha Female of this pack. I need to be with my mate through this. I’m sorry…” Looking into his eyes, it wasn’t that he was mad or upset, he was hurt. He’s just going to miss me. And I him. This is getting us nowhere fast.

“Listen, honey, you need to think about what you’re doing. If you keep her away from this, it’s only endangering the pack. It has to happen. It was going to eventually…” Myt mother is right on que. She knows, like I, what this is about. It’s about his little girl growing up and moving away. I feel the same way. I don’t want to leave my parents. Hell, across town is too far for me. I love them and can’t wait for them to be happy about my new life.

“We can’t keep her small forever, dear.” She smiles and strokes his cheek. “You have to let her go, not for good. She’s the leader of this pack. She’ll be with you every day. Now that she’ll be Alpha, you can have unspoken communication all the time.” She smiles bigger to show her kindness. I hope Raylan and I can do that for each other one day.

In one solid movement, my dad is up the stairs and in my bedroom. I give my mom a nervous look and she ushers me up the stairs. He’s taking my clothes out of the drawers.

“I guess… I guess I’ll help you back.” He looks sheepishly down at the floor.

“Oh, daddy…” I fling myself into his arms. I can feel the tears as they stem from both of my eyes. I love his man. He’s my first love, and my heartache. I will miss having him around every day…

Looking out at the wilderness makes me think how far I’ve come in a few short months. I’m waking up with my best friend, my soul mate, and looking at all the property that I will own in just a few short hours. This is my life now. It’s hard to imagine. However, it will happen. The ceremony is tonight. Ugh, another problem. We have to introduce Taiga into the pack. That’s going to be hard. He says I’ll save this pack and a few others. My prophecy was made years and years before me. “One day, you’ll be the most important female.” Those words ring in my ears. Oh, what could it be?

I have to meet up with Taiga soon. We have to go through this mating process of his. It’s scaring me really. How will I feel afterwards? How will Raylan feel? Taiga says it has to be done in private. With what happened to Winter, I’m not sure he’ll like that too much. How can he be so brazen with her? She was attacked. She has a right to be hurt. I am hurt, too.

All these thoughts are whirling around me when I walk into the family room. I was straight into a heated argument with Raylan and his father.

Raylan’s POV

“You will not father. I did everything you asked me to. Ocie is more than capable and if you were around more instead of taking unnecessary trips around the world, you would see that.” My fingers are starting to shake. Making a fool out of me is one thing, don’t come after my mate. Those are the wrong words to pick.
