No excuses. I’m sorry for the delay.

Chapter Fifteen
Ocie’s POV
Lunging through the air, I caught Sawyers throat with my sharp teeth and took a bite. I don’t want to kill him; I just want him to suffer. I don’t care if he “doesn’t remember who hit him”; I remember what he did to Winter. I will never forgive him for that. I could barely think over his howls of pain.
I took a few steps backwards to see him groveling for me to stop. I didn’t want to stop until I heard Raylan’s voice. He was pleading with me to quit. I don’t want to make my mate too upset with me. I changed back into human form while Raylan gave me his shirt to cover up with. The pack doctor came running in to stop the bleeding.
“Ocie Dee Downy, I cannot believe you did that! You are not acting as respectful Luna. You’re short temper cannot be tolerated.” Raylan paced back and forth as he said that. I didn’t know whether to be hurt or offended. The beings of Fate chose us to be together for some reason. If he couldn’t see that, then what was the point of being with him? He doesn’t like who I am. That’s fine, I don’t have to stay and take this. With the tears forming in my eyes, I dashed up the stairs and out the front door. I could hear him calling after me, but he never followed.
Raylan’s POV
I watched as she flew through the air to make contact with his throat. I saw Johnny Lee cross the room and try to reach her before she had bit him. It was no use; she was almost as fast as I am. It was hard to tell if she had made a bit mark to kill or not. It wasn’t bleeding as bad as it could have been. When she backed off of him, it made me question what she was really doing. She wasn’t trying to kill him. Ocie was trying to make him suffer. I tried to reason with her.
“Ocie, you can’t kill him! What will your pack think? You cannot! Please, stop and think about this!” I guess it worked because she went around the corner and changed back into her human form.
I threw her my shirt so she wouldn’t bare my goodies to Johnny Lee. That’s my possessive side coming out. Much to my surprise, she looked pleased with what just happened. I lost my cool and screamed at her. Everything I said, I meant, but it all came out so wrong. She didn’t need to hear that in the way I said it. She will make an excellent Luna as soon as she fixes her hot-headed issue. I understand Winter is family to her, but you have a responsibilities now that over power that love. I need to know that if her parents did something that was out of line, she could punish them for it. it’s all about trust that I don’t have with her leadership at this point.
“If I may, sir?” I hear the doctor say.
“What is it?” I could feel myself being short with him, but it wasn’t on purpose. I was still pissed that she ran away from me.
“Winter is trying to make it, but it’s still hard for her to do even in wolf form. If she can make it through the night, I won’t be worried.” He was helping Johnny Lee pick up the wounded Sawyer and take him to the hospital. The doc should be able to patch him up and get him back home. I can’t keep him in jail any longer because of something he was forced to do. Ocie might not believe Abrinia’s potion, but I do. I know it works because she’s tested it on me before. Now, more importantly, we need to find who hit Sawyer or anyone who knows something about this situation. More importantly, I need to find Ocie. She doesn’t need to be alone while all of this is going on.
“Johnny, I’m going to go find Ocie. I’ll be back soon. I know Sawyer’s off the hook, but stay close to him. Especially, while Winter is in the same building. If he tries it again, kill him on spot. Period.” With that, I turned to walk up the stairs. She couldn’t have gotten far.
Ocie’s POV
I wanted my horse. Junior is who I need right now. When all else fails in this world, I know I can count on him to be here for me. I haven’t got to ride him for the past couple of weeks. He’s probably pissed at me. I had shifted into my wolf to run faster and was almost to my house. I ran, in wolf form, to my room to grab some clothes. I put on my jeans and a take top and headed out the door to the barn. When I got to the barn, Junior was eating hay. When he noticed I was there, he turned around to not face me.
I sighed, “Listen, I know. I haven’t been able to ride for awhile. I really am sorry and I really do miss you dear.” He never moved. He’s never been this mad at me. I wonder if I can even get the saddle on him.
I go grab the padding and my saddle and hobble over to him. He looks back at me and I stand waiting for permission. He finally, after what seemed like forever because of how heavy all of this stuff is, let me put the saddle on him. After twenty minutes of waiting, we finally left the barn.
Needless to say, he was restless. We didn’t even warm up, he took off and jumped the fence that usually kept him out. Now, dad and I would have to build the fence higher. Great, let me just add that on to the list of things to do. The ceremony was in a few days, Winter’s sub-doer was still not caught, and now I have to worry if my horse will be able to get out.
I had to remind myself of why I love to ride. I can get away for awhile and let the wind take charge of me. I hated that I haven’t done this in so long. It’s not fair to Junior either.
I wonder if Raylan didn’t catch on that I knew he slept with her. He lied to me and told me that Paisley was the only person he’d been with, but Winter told me he cheated on Paisley with someone from a different pack. When I saw her walk in the door, I knew it was her. Her arrogance was disgusting. He’s mine now and he would never cheat on me. Not someone who’s his true mate. At least, I hoped he wouldn’t. It was too bad we got off on the wrong foot, I bet I would’ve liked her.
I was so lost in thought that I realized that we weren’t on my land anymore, we were somewhere unfamiliar. I was scared actually so I pulled on the reins for him to stop. He skidded to a halt while I looked around. I got down off of him to investigate. We were someone north, but as to where, I’ll never know.
I had my foot in the stirrup when I heard leafs crackling as someone was walking on them. I froze. I knew that Junior would freak out if it was a wolf. I tried hard not to let him notice.
“Okay boy, are you ready? I’m ready to head home for the day. We did a good ride.” As I spoke, I never moved a muscle. Whoever it was didn’t stop advancing from the woods.
Out from behind a tree, I saw him. He was a huge wolf with red rings in his orange fur. He stood taller than I did while I was flat-footed. There was nothing stopping him from killing me and Junior right now. All I could think of was Raylan and I’s last words. They were fighting words. Oh well, so much for goodbyes.
That’s when I felt Junior start to shake. Out of nowhere, he shifts. I fainted.
Junior’s POV
I felt Ocie fall to the ground. I didn’t want her to find out this way, but I have to protect her. This wolf is going to murder her if I don’t stop him. He was taken aback from when I shifted which gave me the advantage. I took my arm and flung him against the nearest tree. He dropped to the ground passed out. I used the lead rope to tie his hands and feet. I will take Ocie to the hospital and find Raylan.
He won’t be happy that I’m naked and carrying his mate, but she’s my mate too…
