"Mom"
Maya crooked out tiredly. Her hand reaching out to the open air until it landed in her mothers who squeezed it tight. The other clunged to the hospital bed with desperation. She remembered when she was young her kother had told her to never to get in this position. Until she was older. That the pain was unbearable and it was. She was gripping and gasping and crying. Her mothers words in the past 5 months ringing in her head about responsibilities. She should've just listened and now she was being punish.
"I can't," Maya cried "It hurts so much! Please make it stop kommy please!" Maya begged and cried out as another contraction hit. She was desperate for this to stop. They told her it was to late for the epidural and gave her an indurphine that had long gone two hours ago. She was laying in the same bed for the past thirteen hours and all she wanted was for the pain to stop.
"Shh baby girl," Katy cooed "It'll all be worth it when you see your darling baby girl."
Maya looked at her mother as if she growned two heads. If she wasn't so tired she would've called her a hypothetical bitch. Though it was Maya's fault for not listening to her mother. The cheers had made her upset due to 6 months ago she was telling her to get an abortion which Maya stubbornly told her no. She choosed adoption instead and as another pain rippled through her. She wished she did.
"Maya," The doctor called gaining her attention before she could snap at her mother "I know this is hard but I'm going to need you to give me another big push. Can you do that? She's almost out."
"I can't." Maya cried.
"Maya you can." Katy told her encouragingly.
With a tired sigh Maya sat up straighter nodding. She could do this. She could! Taking in a deeo breath Maya began to push screaming at the top of her lungs feeling her body get ripped out in two. Suddenly the most gorgeous noise in the world could be heard. A loud crying noise filling the air. Maya looked up curiously at the noise, using her elbows to prop herself up. Sure she was in a bit of pain but it was easily pushed back. The only thing on her mind was the child in front of her.
"Okay, we'll bring baby Hart to the nursery and call the system." The nurse said holding up Maya's now cleaned wrapped up daughter.
"Wait!" Maya called and winced at the tone. Everyone in the room stopped moving to look at her."Ca-Can I just hold her? Before she has to go?"
"Maya." Katy warned.
"Please mom?" Maya begged, her voice breaking.
With a sigh Katy reluctantly nodded. The nurse looked over at the doctor who nodded giving her permission. Walking over the nurse carefully placed the small baby in Maya's arms. On cue the baby looked up at her mother with curious wide grey eyes.
"Woah." Was all Maya could.
2 and half years later
"Maya? Earth to Maya!?" Katy snapped her fingers bringing Maya out of her trance of staring out the window. Looking over at her mother she raised an eyebrow.
"What?"
"I said are you excited to see your friends?" Katy laughed "Are you okay?"
Maya thought. Moving back to New York was probably the worst idea that her mother could do. They had a great life in Miami. She made great friends and her grades were better. Her mother had a decent job that paid the bills. To be honest Maya didn't know why they were moving back two years later. Life was great and now she had to face her past. That wasn't something she wanted to do but apparently her mother got a call about some big opportunity that couldn't be passed up..
