The rest of the lesson dragged on. Each second felt like an hour. A very long pointless hour. I didn't want to risk sneaking another glance in Luke's direction. I was worried he would get the wrong idea. Well, it would kinda be the right idea, I did think he was pretty cute. But he didn't need to know that. Not yet anyway.
Once the lesson ended I was more then happy to leave the company of Mr Steven. He was officially the most annoying person on the planet. The combination of annoying voice and pointless ramble made for a very long and pointless 55 minutes. As I picked up my books ready to leave, Claudia and I came to a horrible conclusion. We would have too put up with this man for a double lesson on thursday afternoon. Great.
I had just started at this new school and I already had an enemy.
"So where's your next lesson?" Mikaela asked as she held the door open for me. I thanked her and hurried out of the room.
"I know it's english but I don't know where...." I trailed off as I begun fumbling for my timetable. I was unable to keep a firm grip on the diary however and it slipped out of my hands and onto the floor. Damn. I bent to pick it up but before I had a chance too a hand had swiped it up off the floor and out of my reach. Surprised, I stood up.
"Hey, give it back it's mi........" I stopped mid sentence when I saw who was hold my diary out too me. Luke was standing there holding my diary grinning like a mad man. Beside him stood another boy. Not quite as tall as himself but close enough. He had a mop of dark, almost black hair and naturally tanned skin. He looked vaguely asian in descent, but not really. It was hard to explain.
"Here you go." Luke said shoving my diary on top of my books. He shoved his hands deep into the pockets of his dark jeans.
"So...what do you have next?" He asked as he rocked backwards on his heels.
"English." I said bluntly. I tried to be as emotionless as possible. But inside I was having trouble. Butterflies where wrestling with my emotions, making me feel very unstable.
"Me too!!" The dark haired boy to Luke's left said as he extended an arm in a high five. His other arm was full of books. That made me wonder where Luke's books where, he wasn't holding any.
"Where're your books?" I asked him nodding in the direction of the other boys arm.
"And who's this?" I asked him. I realised as soon as I said the words how rude they sounded.
"They're over there." Luke said as he tilted his head towards the ledge of the classroom. Sure enough, perched on the edge was a small pile of folders and a red pencil case.
"And that's Calum Hood." He said jabbing a thumb in the direction of Calum who had begun walking down the corridor towards his next class.
"Hi, sorry guys. Thanks for waiting for me." Claudia came out of the room shaking her dark head causing her plait to fall out around her face.
"Just needed to talk too Mr Steven about something...." She trailed off as she flipped her diary open, balancing her books on her knee.
CALUM POV
My eyes where, (hopefully casually) looking in the rough direction of our classroom. Claudia was still inside talking too Mr Steven. She had a soft frown on her face as Mr Steven continued to draw on the white board. I had had a crush on her for close to a year now. It's sad, I know. I haven't even spoken too her. Apart from the time when I accidentally dropped my books out of my locker and onto her head. That was at the start of the year. I had said nothing since.
She smiled to Mr Steven, collected her books and begun leaving the room.
Something took over me. I didn't know what. Seeing Claudia coming over made me slightly scared. She wasn't intimidating, actually she was the total opposite.
