Chapter 20

Cody's POV

I watched as she fell limp in the backseat and her eyes closed.
"Jess?", I said barely audible and shook her a little but she did'nt open her eyes.
"Jess!!", I said louder and shook her some more."Jess, please don't do this to  me-WAKE UP!!"
I turned her face over so she was facing me and I shook her again, panicking once more.
"PUNCH IT DAWN!!JESS!!!JES WAKE UP PLEASE!!",I started sobbing again.
We got to the hangout a couple minutes later, and Dawn threw the car in park.
I opened the back door as some of our gang, who we like to call the trauma team came rushing down the stairs and towards the car.


"What happened?",Alice, the leader of our trauma team said as she ran out.
"She got shot", I gritted as I picked Jess's limp body up and carried her up the stairs into the hangout.
"Alright-ROSE!!ETHAN!! BLAZE!!GET THE BACK ROOM READY IT'S JESS!!",Alice ordered."Come on follow me-Blu get the IV ready!"
I followed her down the hall into the backroom where we treat all our wounded after wars and laid her down on the bed, then they all swarmed around her.
"Is-is she gunna b-be ok?", I said almost hyperventilating.
"Cody-listen, were gunna do everything we can alright?I just need you to give us some space, so we can work",Alice said as she started pushing me out of the room.


"Y-Yea but what if-"
"Cody, were gunna do everything we can, just give us some space",Alice nodded and kept pushing me out.
"Cody man, come on...come on",Kurt said as he came up and put a hand on my shoulder, leading me away back towards the main room, but that did'nt stop me from looking back a few times.

We walked down the end of the hall and everyone turned to us, but I just stared at the floor and started pacing back and forth.
Everyone went back to what they were doing, fixing each other up, but me?
I had my eyes glued to the floor, pacing.


"Cody, calm down-everythings gunna be alright man...here have a beer, you look like ya need one",Kurt said holding one up to him.
I swallowed back my urge to start bawling on the spot and took it, nodding a thanks to him before sitting down and watching the door of the back room.
I never took my eyes off that son of a bitch until 20 minutes later, Alice came out with blood running down her hands and arms, and I wanted to freak.
"She lost quite a lot of blood and needs a transfusion...a few actually.....A- to be exact", Alice sighed and without thinking, I took my jacket off and threw it on the chair.
"Thats me come on",I said rolling my sleeve up and heading to the back room with her.


I walked in and saw Jess was still on the bed where I left her.
She was pale and  her shirt was off and there was about 8 bullet holes in her stomach.
That sight alone wanted to make me bawl, but I sat down in the chair beside her bed, and watched Alice stick one end of the tube with the needle in Jess's arm, then she stuck the other end in mine.

After that she flipped some kind of switch on the transfuser and I watched the blood come out of my arm and into Jess.
"How many of the bullets have you gotten out?", I asked.
"Well, there was a total of 8, we got 5 out, but there's still 3 more in there, two we can't find just yet", she explain and I nodded.

"Is she gunna be ok?", I asked and looked up at Alice with a hopeful look.
To this she just gave me an uneasy look, then went back to doing what she was doing.

  
I swallowed and let a long breath out waiting for them to get all their blood.
After they took two pints, they unhooked me, and pushed me out of the room again.
I walked down the hall and back to the others, Kurt handing my beer once again and I took it then sighed sitting down again.

"You alright man?",Jacob asked me.
"Yea, they took two, I'm fine though", I replied blinky hard cause truth be told I was a little dizzy, but it wore off.

"What happened in there?...In the warehouse?",Kurt said as he knelt down in front of me.
I looked up at him and everyone else, shaking my head.
"She shoved me aside, she took a whole round of Hector's gun for me", I choked out.

I raised my beer up to take a drink, but was cut off by and ear piercing scream from the back room.
"SON OF A BITCH", was followed by it, so I dropped my beer to the floor and ran back there as fast as I could.

I ran in, and held the door so it would'nt come back and knock my ass out, then I saw Jess was more than awake-she was conscious and screaming her head off.
"HOLD HER STILL!!",Alice yelled, still working on her stomach.
"WHY DON'T YOU GIVE HER SOMETHING TO PUT HER UNDER!?!",I screamed at her.


"IT'S TOO DANGEROUS!!",Alice screamed back at me.
"Jess!Jess-it's ok", I said as I came over and sat beside her on the bed.
"Cody get out!",Alice ordered.
"FUCK OFF!!", I yelled over my shoulder at her, all the while, Jess is still screaming and arching her back from the pain.


"Jess!Jess, come on look at me-just look at me-its gunna be ok",I said to her, and she stopped, still breathing heavy and gritting her teeth.
"Your sure you  don't have anything you can give her for pain???",I gritted over my shoulder at Alice, then turned back to Jess."Hey, listen, Jess-I'm right here, ok?"
She nodded back still gritting her teeth, then tried to sit up so she could see her stomach.
"No, no, no, don't look", I said pushing her back down gently.

She finally stopped hyperventilating then squeezed her eyes shut and let a long breath out still gritting her teeth.
I leaned over her chest, blocking her sight from her open stomach so she would freak the fuck out, then leaned on my left elbow beside her head, brushing her hair back away from her face, while she squeezed the living shit out of my hand.

I heard Alice drop another bullet into a bowl and I looked over my shoulder.
"There's number 6", Alice said and I heard Jess breathe in really deep, so I turned back to her.
"Your doin good Jess, were almost done", I said and squeezed her hand then she squeezed mine back even harder.

"Huh",I heard Alice say to herself so I looked at her over my shoulder.
"What?",I said.
"I found the other two we were missing but their farther down, so we have to go deeper", she said as as picked out a fragment from Jess's stomach.
"OK!Um-wow. That fucking hurts", Jess gritted and I cracked a smile.
"Yea, were definitely gunna have to go deeper",Alice nodded.

"Your gunna give her something...I'm not gunna let you torture her-give her some fucking morphine NOW", I growled as I whipped around to her again.


She sighed but stood up and grabbed the bottle off her desk and started loading some into a shot.
"We don't have much", she said walking over to Jess's arm.
"Yea but a little goes a long way",I said back and looked back down at Jess.
She gave her the shot in her arm then walked back and set it on the table.
"Ow", Jess growled.

"Big baby", I smirked and went back to brushing her hair away from her face, and I could'nt help but stare at her.
"What?", she said.
"You are the biggest idiot I've ever known, you know that?", I said and she laughed."Why did you do that?"
"I had to-OW", she yelled.
"Sorry",Alice replied not looking up."Let me know when you start feeling better."


"Sure thinnggg", Jess rolled her eyes.
"You did'nt have to do shit, Jess, and you know it",I said, playing with her hair."You should've let me take it."
"Better me than you", she retorted, then she just kinda spaced out and stared at me so I laughed.
"What?",I said.

"Yourrrr prettttyyyyyy",she laughed to herself, and I looked at Alice over my shoulder.
"I think that morphine kicked in",I smirked.
Alice nodded in agreement, then she picked up the tweezers she had on the bed and started looking for the other two bullets lost somewhere in Jess's stomach.


"I'm "pretty"?", I laughed as I quoted her.
"Uhhh huhhh", she nodded, still smiling then she started poking my cheek."Pretty, pretty boyyy."
I could'nt help but laugh at her, and she gave me a confused look.
"What?", she said.

"You!Your funny", I said still laughing.
"Im serious though!!Your pretty!!-Pretty hot", she smirked then started laughing hysterically.
"Ok so I was pretty, and now I'm hot", I started laughing again and she nodded.
"Uh huh", she smiled and I looked at Alice.

"How much did you give her?",I scoffed and she laughed, shaking her head, as she pulled out another bullet.


"There's seven-one more to go",she said.
"Alright, good...hear that, Jess?Almost done",I said, then I turned to Blu who was standing by Alice assisting her."Can you go grab my beer?"
"Yea sure", he said, then he walked out to go grab it.

"Damn, a beer sounds fabulous right now", Jess sighed closing her eyes and I shook my head at her.
A few seconds later, Blu came back with my beer and handed it to me.
"Thanks man", I said before I tilted it back.
"Ya knowww Cody, sharing is caring",Jess slurred.

"No, she can't have any",Alice said, so I rolled my eyes and handed it to Jess anyway.
"Thank youuuu", she smiled, then took a couple sips and handed it back before sighing and closing her eyes again.


"Can I trust you for a few seconds to not sit up so I can set this down?",I said, and she nodded still smiling."Okk."
I stood up and she did'nt move so I walked over and took one more drink before setting it down on the table.

"Damnnn Codyyy, shake it baby don't break it", she giggled to herself and I busted out laughing with the others.
"Oh my God, you are so fried", I laughed and sat beside her again, then she went back to poking my face.
"Annnd there's 8", Alice said then dropped the last bullet in the bowl."Now all we have to do is sew her up."


I nodded and turned back to Jess who continued poking my face, then she sighed and smiled as her hand dropped to beside her face.
"Ya know, you look a hell of a lot like this guy I like-you've seen him around before-you know him", she said, and I'll be honest, that hurt.

"Oh yea and where do I see him?", I sighed and raised my eyebrows.
"Everytime you look in the mirror", she said with a straight face and I froze.
Say what?
Shes doped up, she does'nt mean that does she?


Next thing I knew, the beautiful smiling girl I was in love with started shaking violently and I started freaking out.
I tried to hold her down, but Alice and Blu pulled me off.
"No!Don't hold her down!She's seizing she's not getting enough blood to her brain!If you hold her down she could hurt herself even more!..She has to go through with it....Im sorry", Alice said giving me a sad look.

I looked from her, to Jess and she was still shaking, then I could'nt take it, so I started crying once more and walked out of the room slamming the door behind me.

Once I was in the hall, I slid down the wall and balled my fist up and brought it to my mouth, rocking back and forth slightly, letting out shaky breaths.
