34. Will You?

Jack's P.O.V.

Tonight I am taking Leigh to dinner. I bought flowers so it could be a little more romantic. I plan to have dinner and then take her to the huge fountain on campus and ask her out there. I hope everything is goes perfect. I look in the mirror, fix my hair and leave. I arrive at the restaurant and see Leigh. She looks amazing. *Skips dinner* After dinner I tell her to drive back to campus and meet me at the fountain. I text Jack that we're on our way so get the camera and flowers ready. I know I'm only asking her to be my girlfriend but I want this to be special. We're back on campus. I meet Leigh and lead her hand in hand.

"This has been a perfect night," She tells me. Yes! So happy to hear that.

"Yes it has," I smile at her. "Here before we go to our dorms I want to take you to the fountain." She happily agrees and all I think is I'm about to have a girlfriend.

"Woah. This is beautiful," She tells me.

"That's why I wanted to take you here.. because I know how much you love beautiul sights."

"Aw Jack your so sweet," She said. She makes me happy. Here we go, I thought.

"You know Leigh, you make me very happy and the 6 months we've known each other has been super fun. You're very pretty, funny, smart, and gorgeous.. and I can't help but ask you this one question," I grab the flowers and give it to her,"Leigh, Will you be my girlfriend?" I finally asked her.

"Aw Jack your so sweet! Yes I will!" She was so happy. We hugged tightly and I spun her around. She checked the time and it was almost 12.

"I got to go, I have class early so I need sleep," She laughed.

"Here let me walk you.." I smiled and offered my hand. She gladly accepted and I walked her to dorm. We are officially boyfriend and girlfriend and I couldn't be happier.

I saw everything. I wanted to go for a walk so I thought to go to the fountain. When I got to the fountain I saw Jack with Leigh, so I hid behind the building closest to it. He looked handsome but she looked beautiful. I couldn't tell what was going on, but then I figured it out. It crushed my heart. I don't understand why. Seeing him actually fully moved on from me and with another girl. Nothing is worst than seeing the boy you love ask out another girl right in front of you. I was very hurt. I couldn't cry because I was tired of crying because of Jack. I noticed the flowers we're there so I made sure him and Leigh were gone. I walked to the fountain and grabbed the flowers. There were gorgeous. White and red roses, my favorite. There was a note.. It said,

"August 16, Remember this date(; Thanks for being with me all these months.. Love you xx -Jack"

I sat down and stared at the flowers. I didn't know how to feel.

I was putting away the camera with Sam when I noticed Alana walk to the fountain. She grabbed the flowers and read the note. She looked so heartbroken. I just wanted to help her. I felt so bad for her.

"Sam dude look at Alana.."

"Oh.. I feel so bad for her.." He said sadly. Sam kind of likes Alana. Ever since he met her 9 months ago. He couldn't do anything about it because of Jack.. I thought, this was his chance.

"Why don't you go talk to her man?" I told him.

"Because I think she wants to be alone.. She's obviously heartbroken and I think she just needs time to process this.." I could tell he was upset.

"It's ok to start liking her again.. She's single, and I don't think will be going back to her anytime soon.." I told him.

"I don't know man.. It's hard watching your best friend date the girl you like a lot and then going and hurting her twice.." He said to me. He sounds so broken too.

"Hey man it's ok.. I understand you care about her and it was Jack's fault, but don't get angry. It'll be ok soon, I promise."

"I'm not the one who needs to be hearing that.." He said and walked away. I took the camera and went back to my dorm.

I'm just going to have to pretend to be strong now.. The more you pretend the real it becomes. I don't want any of Jack's friends to see me. I thought the first year of college was supposed to be good but I guess not.
