Only You Can Save Me

"Girls don't have peepees."

Camila kept her hand gently on her daughter's stomach so she wouldn't roll off the changing pad. She made a face down to her and smiled as Lily returned the smile. "That's mommy's little girl." Camila worked at pulling off her dirty diaper before wrapping it up and grabbing a wipe to get her clean.

"I help?" Taylor climbed up onto the bed and stuck his tongue out as his little sister when she looked up at him.

"Sure. Can you hand me that diaper?" Camila directed him.

Taylor grabbed the diaper to hand it to his mami before he looked closely. "No peepee?" He asked confused. Camila slowly smiled to him. It was only a matter of time before this conversation would come up.

"No, Tay. Lily doesn't have a peepee. Girls don't have peepees like boys do." She explained very broadly, hoping he would understand.

Taylor looked up, "You no peepee?"

Camila shook her head. "Nope. I don't have a peepee." Camila got Lily all changed before she scooped her up. "Why don't you go ask momma what she wants for lunch?"

Lauren had gotten home from taking a final and wanted to take a shower. Lily was born just under a month before and luckily it was the end of the semester, so Camila could take the summer off and spend it at home with the kids. She stripped out of her clothes and got in the shower as Camila and Taylor changed Lily.

Taylor jumped off the bed and went off to look for his momma. Checking the bedroom first before he called out for her. "Momma?"

Not even a few minutes later Lauren heard Taylor yelling for her. "In the shower, bud. Hang on." Lauren sighed when she could tell he wasnt listening. She heard the pitter patter of his little feet running into the bathroom. She chuckled when she saw Taylor's head peek around the shower curtain and then quickly disappear again. "Tay. I asked you to wait." Lauren said as she heard him walking away again.

"Mami." Taylor yelling as he made his way out of the bathroom.

Lauren sighed as she heard Taylor running off. She finished washing herself up as she rinsed her hair and just stood under the water for a couple minutes. Lauren reached behind her to shut off the water and grabbed her towel to dry off. She stepped out and went over to the mirror, taking her contacts out and putting her glasses on.

Camila made her way downstairs with Lily. She got her situated in her swing in the kitchen and turned it on for it to rock her slowly while she started to pull some things out to make them lunch. "What is it Tay?" She called out to him when she heard him.

Taylor made his way slowly and carefully down the steps, having learned the last time he tried to run down them. He had fallen down the last two steps. "Mami?" He yelled out again before running down the hall into the kitchen. "Why momma yook yike me?" Taylor asked as he looked up at Camila, eyes full of curiosity.

Camila tilted her head some before reaching down to pick him up. She placed him on the edge of the counter and stood in front of him. "What do you mean?"

Taylor took a breath before continuing. "Momma peepee."

Camila sucked in a breath. She hadn't expected all of this in one day. "Well. Your momma's a little different. She's a girl like me and Lily, but she has a peepee like you do. She was born like that." Camila explained softly to him, keeping her arms on the counter on either side of Taylor as she explained things to him.

"Girls don't have peepees." He stated softly, repeating Camila's words from earlier. 

Lauren was getting herself prepared to study for her exam the next day. She had completely dried off and brushed her hair before heading to the bedroom and putting on sweatpants and a tank top.  Lauren grabbed her phone from the night stand, putting it in her pocket and headed downstairs. She walked into the kitchen to see Taylor sitting on the counter and Camila looking at him with a weird expression. She walked up behind her wife and kissed her cheek. "Did something happen?" Lauren asked as she looked between her wife and Taylor.
