The fall was a large one, the air whistling like a hurricane in their ears, threatening to slam them against the wall.
The monsters above looked down, hissed, then left.
Clara curled into a ball, Joseph did the same, but Mira reached down with her hands towards the water below. It rose up to meet them, catching the group from an unpleasant death.
"It's still going to be a rough ride!" Mira shouted. "I can't control water like this!"
They fell into the river, darkness covering them. It was everywhere, so dark, Clara, Mira, and Joseph didn't even know which way was up.
Mira grabbed her friends' hands and pulled them up. Waves crashed down, trying to force her to let go.
"Mira, try making a bubble! Joseph isn't doing well in the water, so protect him the most!" Clara shouted over the noise.
"Yes, please! Fire and water don't mix!" he yelled.
Mira did her best. "I can't...."
Joseph started to sizzle. "Please!"
"It's too hard!"
"Try." Clara whispered. Her head went under the water.
"No!" Mira wailed. Her rage boiled up inside, and she unleashed the energy to make a safety zone for Clara and Joseph. She watched their faces go inside, breathing again.
Joseph gave her a thumbs up. "Finally."
"Stop joking! You're the reason we fell!" said Clara.
"Stop fighting.." Mira muttered. "and look ahead. She swam inside the bubble, joining Joseph and Clara. Mira continued to stare, panicking, at a waterfall.
Clara's eyes grew fearful, while Joseph held his breath. "Can you hold on through that?" Clara asked.
"We'll find out." Mira answered.
Twenty feet....ten feet...five....the water below dropped, and they plummeted down, deeper than ever before.
The half bloods' screams echoed all around the Labyrinth, alerting everyone there. Mira shut her eyes, the pressure on her power increasing.
"We are going to die!" Joseph yelled.
"Don't say that!" Clara scolded.
"It will happen eventually.."
Clara wanted to roll her eyes, but they were frozen by fear.
The bottom finally came into view, but it didn't look welcoming at all. Long, jagged rocks poked out from the surface, threatening to kill. All they could do was pray.
Mira gave one last push, dodging an especially big one. Pure luck let their shirts get caught, and not their heads.
"Brilliant!" Joseph huffed. "We go into a river, and there just happens to be a waterfall!"
"You're one to talk!" Mira sneered. "It's not like the rope burned itself!"
Clara slowly climbed down the spike holding her. She planted her feet on the ground and sat down. "We can stay here for the night." she said.
The other two simply avoided the other as they helped Clara set up camp.

Joseph was still shivering as they sat around a fire. "Fire and water don't mix." he thought out loud.
"I said I'm sorry!" said Mira.
"Who said I was blaming you?" Joseph asked.
"Who said it was anyone's fault? Just go to sleep. I'll take first watch." Clara sighed.
Mira nodded and laid down on the softest gravel she could find. Joseph did the same at the opposite end of the fire.
Clara stared out into the darkness, her sword in hand. What were they going to do now?
