Ch. 27

Lucy

"...-cle Natsu. Uncle Natsu. UNCLE NATSU!"

Natsu and I jolt awake at the sound of a little girl's screams. Rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I see a little girl with short black hair, her bangs tied up with a light purple hair tie. Her outfit was adorable, the silky white dress and lavender sandals made her emerald green eyes stand out, but that's not what caught my attention. The small cross-like logo did.
"What's wrong, Lilith?" Natsu's voice was slightly raspy. He sat up and rubbed his eyes.

So she was Lilith, I don't know why but I pictured her as a gorgeous girl our age. The jealousy in me really blinded all my other emotions and thoughts when Gajeel said that Natsu was with someone named Lilith.

Shaking my head, I look around and realize that we fell asleep on the ground in the living-room next to each other. After our conversation earlier, we decided to watch a movie. I'm guessing we fell asleep pretty early in the movie because I remember nothing that happened.

Lilith had small tears in her eyes, her mouth pouting. "I had a scary dream, and m-momma was being t-taken away." My heart clenched at the sight of her distress. She looked at me and walked towards me. "You look like momma." And then she did the cutest thing ever.

Lilith sat on my lap, wrapping her small arms around my waist. Natsu and I froze. My eyes softened once I saw her bright eyes tearing up again. I wrapped my arms around her, running my fingers through the ends of her short black hair. I moved one of my hands to Lilith's face and wipe the tears from her eyes.

"It's okay, sweetie. I'm sure your mom is okay," I reassured. I look up at Natsu and find him already staring at me softly. I look away, feeling my face heat up.

"Your mom and dad are going to be back soon, don't worry," Natsu reassures.

Lilith slightly turns her head towards her pink-haired uncle. "What about my big brother?"

"Rankeid is on his way here now. He's bringing you ice cream too." That seemed to cheer her up because she started bouncing on my lap and clapping.

I was playing with the adorable four-year-old when we heard someone trying to unlock the front door. Three people walked in, a black haired male and two blondes, one male and one female. She was significantly shorter than the other two. Lilith goes running to her parents, her mother picking her up and giving the little girl a kiss on the cheek. The dark haired man ruffles her hair and the other blonde smiles at the four-year-old.

I couldn't take my eyes off of Lilith's mother. Anger and sadness took over my thoughts.

I stand up abruptly, catching the attention of the three that entered the house. Nastu watched as my body slowly began to tremble.

The shorter blonde's eyes widened upon seeing me. I noticed her sharp intake of breath.

"Lucy...". Her voice hadn't changed since the last time I saw her. The two males next to her had confused expressions on their faces.

Nastu grabbed my hand, giving it a slight squeeze but I couldn't take my eyes off of her.

"I-I gotta go." Pulling my hand away, I quickly grab my purse and the red dragon plush and start to walk to the door.

"H-hey! Luce wait!" Natsu exclaimed. I could hear his quick, heavy footsteps trailing behind me.

I ran down the Dragneel's front steps, hot tears streaming down my cheeks, surprising me.
