Third Person
The two teens laid side by side staring up at the sky, one counting the stars and the other thinking about the last two years.
A few minutes passed when the pink haired male decided how to start the story behind his actions.
"It happened two years ago..." He began. He closed his eyes, images of the horrifying image flashing. "I was visiting my dad at his job. He was teaching me how to lead a business for the future when we heard a gunshot from the floor below. My dad being the CEO of the company, he went to check it out, telling me to stay put.
"I stayed in his office for about thirty minutes...listening to people's screams, gunshots and furniture being thrown around. I didn't know what to do... I was frozen...sitting behind the desk.
"My dads yelling brought me to my feet and I ran out the room... Everyone... Every single employee w-was on the floor...dead. Blood was splattered on furniture and the walls. It smelled terrible. The sight brought tears to my eyes. I rushed downstairs and there was this man... Long black hair in a large ponytail and dark slanted eyes... Was holding a knife to my dads neck, with an angered expression.
"The man noticed me and threw the knife, skimming my neck. He asked my dad who I was and he said I'm some delivery boy. The man surprisingly believed him but smirked and gave orders to some guy I didn't notice was behind me. When I looked back I was hit in the face with what I think was the bottom of a gun. My vision became blurry and I could hear the men laugh and my dad yelling my name. The guy did it again and again and again until I blacked out.
"W-when I woke up I was in the h-hospital a-and my d-dad– h-he–" he was cut off with a sob. Natsu, someone who hasn't cried for months, is doing so in front of someone he met not too long ago.
"I-I-I tried looking b-but I can't r-remember the face of the m-man who f-fucking took him." He sat up, burying his face in his hands. "I don't even k-know if he's f-freaking a-a-alive."
The blonde haired teen sat up as well, watching the distressed teen with sorrowful eyes. Her heart clenched, she didn't like watching him of all people cry. The friend who barely shows emotion at school. The one that always skips class or bails out on group plans just to be alone.
He was going to continue until he felt a forehead against his own. Opening his eyes he sees Lucy in front of him, tears rolling down her cheeks with a sad smile. One hand was holding his own and the other was on the back of his head, fingers lacing in his soft, pink locks.
"T-there's no need to continue. Please don't c-cry. I'll help you and be there for you, I p-promise," she croaked. She wiped his years before giving him a soft peck on the forehead. "I'll always be here for you, remember that."
She got on her feet, lending him a hand as well. He stared at her with a shocked expression, surprised that she's crying because of what he just told her. Little did he know that she's mostly crying because of the pain she felt watching him get emotional and knowing how losing a parent feels.
"I'm such a big crybaby," she laughed dryly. "I'm gonna head home... Promise you won't cry anymore?" She held up her pinky. He nodded, entwining his pinky with hers.
She started walking to the door, wiping her tears away.
Gray stood there, besides the door, watching the blonde and pink haired teens get emotional. He knew Lucy wasn't going to like Natsu's story. He warned her. He was surprised to see her cry, though.
Lucy stood in front of the dark haired male, her tears no longer there. Her face was quite serious.
"You're gonna head home now?" She nodded, not making eye contact.
"I told you that you wouldn't like the story. Hell, you even got to see the idiot cry," he stared at her emotionless expression. "But oh well, curiosity killed the cat, huh?"
Curiosity killed the cat, Lucy thought. No. I will do whatever it takes to help Natsu. I promised him that I'll always be there for him. Just you wait, Natsu. You won't have to cry or be depressed anymore.
"But satisfaction brought it back," she countered, walking past him, not seeing his eyes widen.
Before Lucy walked away from Gray's home she looked up at the moon and stars.
I'm keeping my promise Natsu. I don't want you to feel the same way I have been feeling for years. Alone, she thought and walked back home.
