Ch. 8

Lucy

"So now we all have free period?" I asked.

"Not exactly. Metal Face, Pyro and I are going to basketball practice and Juvia, Erza and Jellal are going to Student Council things," Gray answered. "Alright let's go guys." Him and Gajeel started walking towards the gym but Natsu walked in the opposite direction.

"Oi, where the hell are you going!?"

"Anywhere but here," the pink haired teen answered emotionlessly.

"What the- Dude we have practice!" Gajeel yelled, frustrated.

"And?" Natsu stopped walking and looked over his shoulder, lifting a brow. Levy and I are standing between this, might I add and it's awkward.

"And!? You're captain and you missed practice all last week!" Gray had a vein popping out in his neck. Okay, these guys should calm down. I don't get why they're getting so mad.

"Fine– you're captain now." Natsu kept walking away. Wait what?! I didn't expect him to do that! Gray and Gajeel's eyes widened and they looked pissed.

Levy grabbed my wrist.

"Cmon lets go to the library, I'm not in a club or sport so I'm free."

"I want to tell you things about myself," Levy started.

We were helping the librarian put returned books on the shelves. The librarian is a cute, short old lady named Mrs. Brown. She had a nice, welcoming demeanor and smelled of fresh baked cookies.

"Of course you know my name– Levy Mcgarden. I'm seventeen years old. My hair is naturally blue. I'm an only child. My parents are Louis and Melissa Mcgarden. My father is a doctor and my mother is a stay-at-home-mom. Well actually she holds a daycare at the house while I'm at school. I love these twins that would come, they're absolutely adorable.

"Anyways, I love reading books, more specifically fantasy. Erza likes to read adult books, hehe. The first friend I made was Gray, who introduced me to Erza and Natsu. We were at Fairy Tail Elementary School at the time. Jellal, Gajeel and Juvia came along in junior high.

"I love Chinese food and banana milkshakes. Just letting you know for whenever you want to buy me something," she winked.

"Oh! And I can speak and read in more than four languages! That's basically it!"

We continued putting books away. A colorful book in Levy's hand caught my attention.

"Hey Lev, let me see that book." She hands me the book, which I analyze. I gasped. The author...

"Your mother wrote that book!?" Levy yelled and the librarian shushes her.

I didn't know my mom was an author! And an author for fantasy books at that!

Wait..

This book is like one of the bedtime stories she told me.

A dragon meeting a lost princess, falling in love and then turning into a human.

It was one of my absolute favorite stories. But why didn't she tell me that it's from one of her books?! Hell why didn't she tell me she was an author!

"I didn't know she wrote books."

"Maybe that's where you get your writing talent from. Your book is pretty good so far. Hey can I be the first person to read it all when you finish?" WHAT.

I turned my head so quickly that I thought it would fall off. Levy smiled guiltily, handing me a stack of papers. The book I'm writing. I quickly snatch the papers, hiding them behind my back.

"Sorry! It was just there and it looked so interesting!" I let out a sigh, I can't be mad at her. She's such a bookworm but who am I to talk? I'm the same way.

"Speaking of writing, when did you write that song you sang last period?"
Levy asks, continuing to sort books by genre. When did I write Young and Beautiful?

I honestly can't remember so I shrug.

"How many other songs have you written?"

"I have about five songs completed and I'm currently working on another. I need some inspiration to continue it, though, so I'm writing my book."

"Can I read your songs?"

"Eh– I don't have them. I left the papers I wrote them on back at my old house."

"Paper? Like separate pieces of paper? You don't write them in a book or something?" I laugh nervously.

"N-no, hehe. Actually, Young and Beautiful was the first song I wrote... on a piece of toilet paper." Levy giggled.

Someone opened the door slowly, poking their head in. It's Laxus.

"Lucyyyyyy, are you here?"

I poke my head from the side of the bookshelf.

"Hey we're headed home. Do you want to come with us or are you going to stay with your friends?" He asked. I turned to Levy who's looking at me with hopeful eyes.

"We wanted to go to Mira's Café after school. You should come!" I turn to Laxus.

"I'll go with them." Levy hugs me, happy that I'll be tagging along.
