Ch. 5

"Why do you think he's on the roof?" Levy asked.

"Well, I doubt Grandeeney would let him in her house when he should be at school and I know Tabasco didn't bring money today, so he wouldn't be at Mira's café," Gray said.

Jellal pulled out a key and unlocked the door to the roof. When he opened the door, the group was hit with a large gust of wind.

The roof was where the gardening club grew their plants. Laki Olietta, a fellow student, was leader of the club.

There were several pots, all in different sizes and material, and lots of hanging plants. It all looked very beautiful, especially with the sun hitting the flowers. Every part of the vast roof was filled with plants or some sort of decoration.

The guys and Levy went to one section of the roof top to look for their friend while Lucy went to another, entranced by a white flower. Gardenias.

The group had no luck so they decided to split up. Gray and Jellal went alone and Gajeel and Levy stayed together.

Jellal saw Lucy with her head slightly tilted down and he decided to join her.

There he was, the pink-haired male, sitting against a platform, staring at the blonde haired beauty from a few feet away. She caught his attention not only from her golden locks blowing in the wind, but because of the look in her eye. So many negative emotions were portrayed in her eyes; sadness, hurt, betrayal.

"Natsu, why the hell did you skip class again?" Jellal asked, frustration laced in his voice. The said boy payed no attention to the other male. His eyes stayed on the sad girl, wondering why she was looking at gardenias that way.

"Who's she?" Natsu asked quietly, nodding in her direction. Jellal looked and had the same questioning look on his face.

"Lucy Heartfilia, she's new here starting today. I'm her escort. She has every class with all of us, too."

"Why does she look so... emotional? They're only flowers."

"Ha! You're one to talk. Don't you get
'emotional' in the beginning of October?" Jellal joked, doing quotation marks with his fingers. Natsu looked up at the standing man with a deadly glare. Jellal only smirked before looking at the girl before them.

"Where's Erza and Juvia?"

"Probably looking for your ass." Natsu froze. He knows he's going to get an earful about bunking class from the Great and Mighty Titania. And it will not end well for him.

"How did you even get up here?"

"I asked Kinana for her key." Jellal nodded.

"Guys!" He yelled. "Natsu's over here!" Gajeel and Gray came running while Levy walked, unamused.

At the mention of a new name, Lucy was snapped from her thoughts and whipped her head around. Her eyes widened when she saw the man sitting there, surprised that she didn't notice him.

He turned towards her again, locking eyes. Everything around them suddenly disappeared, it was only them.

Pink hair? Huh, that's new. He's pretty cute actually, she thought.

She's no longer sad. Did those flowers  remind her of something or did she just hate them, he questioned.

"ETHERIOUS NATSU DRAGNEEL! HOW DARE YOU SKIP CLASS AGAIN!" A new voice boomed, scaring everyone. Gray and Jellal stood in front of Lucy and Gajeel and Levy stepped to the side, leaving Natsu out in the open. His eyes widened and stayed frozen in place.

A tall, intimidating female slammed open the door with a face laced with anger. Her long, straight scarlet hair, red blazer, dark blue skirt and white blouse made her look even more serious and sophisticated.

Behind her was another girl, looking serious but in a shy manner. She had wavy cerulean hair that ends below her shoulder, pale skin and captivating dark blue eyes that were locked on a certain raven haired male. She wore
a grey cardigan, white dress and blue flats.

"E-Erza, please don't s-shout," the female behind the said person stuttered. Of course, Erza payed no attention. She walked up to Natsu, grabbed the collar of his dark red shirt and lifted him up without any trouble.

"Why did you skip class once again?" Erza asked through her clenched teeth. She roughly shook him when he didn't answer, causing his bangs to fall over his eyes. Everyone stared, not moving or making a sound, scared for how this could end.

"Dammit Natsu, give me a reason!"

He grabbed her wrist, making her let go of his shirt. She gripped his hand while he did the same to hers.

"You know damn well why I'm this way. It's been two years and I still haven't been able to do anything. How would you feel if you were in my place!" Natsu spat. His eyes held so much anger that surprised the tall red head. It surprised everyone, actually. Everyone but Lucy, she didn't understand what was going on which is why her eyes were the size of plates and mouth agape.

Erza's eyes widened in realization and she lost her grip on his hand. She clearly forgot what he was going through and now she regrets yelling at him.

"I apologize for my actions," she bent her head. Natsu only nodded, fixing his shirt.

"Anyways... Guys meet Lucy, she's new here starting today," Gray announced. Lucy smiled nervously and waved.

"Oh my, I'm sorry for that show that I just caused. My names Erza Scarlet, pleasure to meet you," they shook hands. Jellal went up to Erza, wrapping an arm around her shoulder and gave her a kiss on the cheek, causing her to blush.

"She's also the Student Council President and my girlfriend," he smirked. Lucy grinned, finding the couple very cute.

"Hi, I'm J-Juvia Locker. I'm also part of the S-student Council. It's n-nice to meet you Lucy," they smiled at each other and shook hands.

"You probably figured this out but my names Natsu Dragneel. Etherious is my first name buuuuuut I really don't like it so I stick with Natsu," He gave an effortless smile and shook Lucy's hand.

"It's nice to meet all of you!"

The bell rang, indicating the end of second period.

"We have to head to our third period. Mr. Alors won't be happy if we're late. Chop chop!"
