Chapter Twenty-Like A Dream Come True
"Courtney, I really need your help." I told my best friend as soon as her face popped up on my laptop screen.
"Really? With what?" She asked, looking a little confused.
"I'm starting the Player Game tomorrow with Cassius AKA Mr. Player. I need advice and a lot of help." I said and she smiled mischievously.
"Give me seven hours and I'll come to the rescue." She grinned with a wicked smile and logged out.
"Hey! I don't have seven hours!" I cursed at the blank screen.
"Great! Just great! Not only do I lack in the beauty department, I also lack in the boy knowledge department. Now how in the hell am I suppose to take down a player with nothing to work with!" I threw my hands in the air.
"Why does life have to be so cruel!" I scowled at the ceiling.
I dialed Courtney's number in my phone but it of course went straight to her voice mail.
"This isn't over! I am so getting you back! Do you not realize that I don't have seven hours! And why the heck to you need seven hours?! You're so infuriating!" I hissed into the phone and turned it off.
"The only other person I can technically go to is Claire but that's very awkward since it's her brother. Wait, she wanted to see his heart break when he falls for a girl that doesn't love him back! This is my chance to help her and take him down." I mumbled to myself.
I quickly dialed Claire's number and heard very loud music in the background when she answered.
"What's up chick?" She asked.
"Are you having a party?" I asked in bewilderment.
"Nope, just jammin' the music so my butt doesn't sag." She replied.
"Ok, I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that. Anyway, you said you'd like to see your brother heart broken over a girl he falls for but she doesn't love him back right?" I asked and she agreed.
"Well, I think I can help you with that." I told her and went on explaining how I challenged him with The Player Game.
"This is like a dream come true! I need your address." She said with excitement and I swear I think I heard her jumping up and down.
I gave her my address.
"Alright, I'll be over there in a few." She sounded like she was running around.
"Ok, bye."
"Bye." She replied and hung up.
I took a deep breath and fell back on my bed.
"Nothing to worry about. I'm all set." I sighed in relief.
I laid on my bed, starring at the ceiling as I waited for Claire. As I thought about it, I realized that I didn't really know Claire or Anna very well. Maybe that was why they didn't want me to know their history between each other.
I sighed. It would have been a whole lot easier for me if I had never moved. I'd still be with Jake as well as with my friends.
Yeah, I like Claire and Anna but they're basically just my peers, I hardly know anything about them.
I sighed again.
How would I ever keep a strong relationship with Jake? Everything's so complicated. I don't know what's going in between Cassius and I, and I certainly don't want it to progress.
I'm tired of these games and my stupidity. How could I have ever possibly thought I'd be able to make a guy fall for me. Jake was different, we were childhood friends and a relationship just blossomed between us.
I have to make the most of it. I can't quit now, not when he's so hotheaded and cocky about winning.
The door bell rang and I jumped up from the bed, bolting down the stairs.
Claire had finally arrived.
