A/N- I think I like writing in Lukas' P.O.V. too much for my own good. -_-

**Lukas’ P.O.V.**

My eyes opened and closed weakly. As I came into consciousness I noticed there was screaming coming from one end of the house. Not in-pain screaming, but fighting screaming. I suppose mom finally figured out what happened and was able to confront him. Go her.

Rolling on to my side my eyes found the red digital clock sitting on my crappy desk. The “12:45” met me with indifference. There was more muffled screaming. A yelling match this early in the morning, seriously? They’re gonna wake up Jona.

Speaking of which, that boy did a pretty good job of forgetting things, once I made it clear enough that he should. We came home and he went through his after school routine like nothing had ever happened. I wish I could do that.

I groaned a yawn and tried to sit up, but was stopped when my back started stinging. Gah, I’m sorry mom. Looks like you’re going to have to go through this one on your own. Collapsing back down, I ran a hand through my hair, trying to block out the muffled fight.

A dialogue went on for a while and I felt myself falling back to sleep. But then there was a sudden thud and everything went quiet. It was pretty hard to fall asleep after that.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

“Ah, shuddup you stupid alarm clock,” I muttered sleepily as I reached around for something to throw at the annoying sound. Who the hell set the alarm anyway? I never use that thing.

Once I got the stupid thing to shut up I realized it was 6:30 and my back stung a bit less. I grumbled a few incoherent words as I made my way into the bathroom across the hall and did my business. Afterwards, when I stepped out into the hallway in clean clothes, I noticed there was a certain atmosphere to the house. Out of experience, I decided it wasn’t good.

But when I stepped into the kitchen, I was surprised. Mom was standing by the stove cooking bacon and the early sun was starting to peek through the windows. Is this a dream?

She turned around and met me with a small smile; there was a bruise on her cheek and throat. No, this is reality. She scraped the bacon on a plate and set it at the table for me.

“I hope you didn’t mind me turning on the alarm. I wanted to make sure you woke up in time for school.” She went back to cooking some more bacon; her back to me.

I slowly sat at the table and took a bite of the bacon, feeling slightly surreal. “It’s okay.”

After a few moments of silence I decided to raise some of my concerns, “Is Jona still asleep?”

She stopped what she was doing and stared at the wall, “You… woke up last night.”

“It was kinda hard not to wake up.”

She sighed, “I gave him sleeping pills last night, so he should be okay.”

I stared at the back of her head. She drugged Jona, she planned to confront him, and she knew what would happen.

There were some sniffling noises coming from her and she wiped at her face, “Y-you should go catch your bus.”

So I stood up and walked away.

I ditched school again. This time I didn’t even bother showing up. Like I could really focus on any of that crap when all of this shit was happening in my life.
