**Scarlet’s P.O.V.**

“Come back to my house. I can get you cleaned up.”

I shifted around cautiously, trying to find my voice, “I…I’m fi-ine.”

He crouched down in front of me and held out his hand, “No you’re not. Come on.”

I looked at his hand, then back to his face, which was shrouded in darkness, his hair sticking to his face from the rain. “…Why are you out here?”

He dropped his hand and looked at me for a moment, then finally said, “Same as you; to escape.”

“Scarlet! You need to wake up!” My mom shouted, shaking me awake from sleep. My eyes jolted open, the dream still fresh in my memory. Well there’s another piece to the puzzle.

She stood up straight and looked down at me with a quizzical look, “Has there been something going on? You haven’t been yourself lately. You can talk to me, you know.”

I sat up and rubbed at my eyes, trying to chuckle, “Mom. I just woke up. No serious conversations.”

She sighed and started walking to the door, “Well you better hurry or else you’re going to be late for school.”

At school I met up with Trinity and Alice. Trinity looked at me and raised an eyebrow, “You look tired.”

I shrugged, “I am.”

Alice looked like she was trying to resist from saying something. I gave her a questioning look but then noticed Lukas talking to Mark. I turned back to Trinity and Alice, “I’ll be right back.”

As I was walking over to Lukas I heard him say to Mark, “He wouldn’t stop asking me why. It was so hard to keep him distracted,” he ran a hand through his hair, seeming worried. Mark opened his mouth to say something but stopped when he saw me getting closer. Lukas turned around and it seemed like his mouth twitched into a smile.

I gave an awkward wave, “Um, hi. I just wanted to ask how your brother was.”

Mark looked at me surprised; I suppose he didn’t realize I knew about Jona. Lukas’ expression softened, though. “Yes, he’s alright. Thanks for asking.”

I shrugged, “No problem. He’s a cute kid. He looks a bit like you.” There was a pause and then I realized what I just said and face palmed while Lukas and Mark laughed. “Wait. No. That’s not what I meant.”

Lukas chuckled, “Hey, I’ll take a compliment.”

I rolled my eyes, “Whatever. I’m leaving.”

“Wait,” Lukas grabbed my arm before I could walk away and I felt a strange electric jolt. Weird… “You’re pretty cute yourself,” then he waggled his eyebrows at me.

I laughed, unsure how to handle this situation, “Ah, thanks.”  Lukas smirked at me and then Mark coughed.

“I think your friends want your attention,” Mark said, pointing behind me. I turned around and saw Trinity and Alice giving me strange looks. Turning back, I nodded, “I’ll see you guys in class,” and walked over to the girls.

“So I see you’re getting chummy with Deevy, huh?” Alice asked, raising her eyebrows.

I shrugged, “I guess so.”

“Why?” She asked, with a bit of sass, I might add.

I chuckled, “Do you have a problem with it?”

She sighed, “I just don’t think he’s the type of guy you should hang out with.”

I suddenly remembered my dream, “Don’t be so quick to judge, Alice.”
