Tyler's POV.
"Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!" Summer screamed in a high pitched voice, reaching up and taking Candy from my arms. Summer jumps around and pets Candy like a little girl, crying the entire time.
"What's wrong?" I ask her, confused. Did I do something wrong? Why is she crying? She sets Candy on the ground, where she proceeds to sniff Summers legs excitedly. Summer wipes her face, then looks up at me and smiles.
"Nothing is wrong. This is...this is amazing, Tyler," She says, her big brown eyes staring into mine. She hugs me tightly, and I hug her back. Even though her hug was hurting me, it still felt nice. I must have made some sort of noise though, because she quickly let go.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you!" she said, sniffling and wiping her face again, but looking at me with concern.
"It's fine, " I said. Summer goes back to playing with Candy, and I stand with my hands in my pockets. I admired how adorable Summer was when she talked to Candy and played with her.
"This is the best thing anyone has ever done for me," Summer said to me, pure joy in her eyes. I haven't seen her this happy since...I've never seen her this happy...
"So hey, um, I've been meaning to ask you..." I run my hand through my hair, my nerves flying around in my stomach. Is this the right time?
"Yeah?" she said, looking up at me expectantly. I guess its too late to turn back now...
"Well, I was wondering if-" I'm about to finish my sentence when I'm suddenly cut off.
"What the f*ck!?!Why is this creature in my house!?!" My mom yells, looking at Summer and Candy in disgust. "I need to get rid of you," she says, still staring at Candy and Summer. I stay quiet. My mom suddenly turns around, and her eyes widen. Crap.
"What happened to you?" she said, grabbing my jaw. She turns my head harshly, looking at all the bruises and cuts. Her eyes land on my forehead where the word is. It's finally starting to fade, but it's still readable. As she takes it all in, I look down in embarrassment and shame.
"Who did this to you?" she yells, causing me to flinch.
"No one," I mutter, pulling my head out of her hands, and attempting to turn and walk to my room. But no. Of course not. I turn too sharp, and it sends a blinding hot pain through my ribs. I let out a small yelp and I grimace.
My mom quickly pulls up my hoodie to reveal more bruises and cuts and of course the bandage wrapped around my torso. She gasps. I look down, surprised that she pulled up my shirt. Surprised that she knows. I look up slowly, waiting for her response.
I catch Summer out of the corner of my eye, staring in shock. I can't believe my mom found out.
"Come on, let's go, " my mom says, grabbing her car keys.
"Where are we going?" I ask sheepishly, feeling small and weak.
"Where do you think?" She says angrily, glaring at me. "The freaking hospital!" she says, turning around and grabbing Summer by her arm, then yanking her up. I catch the look of disgust she gives Summer.
"No mom, I'm fine. Really, " she turns and looks at me, then she unexpectedly poked my stomach where a bruise was. I wince at the small contact, then look at the ground in shame. She gives me a stern look, then makes her way out the door. Summer and I follow her, and Summer carries Candy with her.
I was finally about to ask her, it was the perfect time. Summer was happy, and...and it just felt so right...I don't know when I'll get that chance again...
I sit in the car, feeling stupid and weak. I don't need to go to the hospital. This is so stupid. I don't even want to go in public looking like this. I was perfectly fine in the house with Summer taking care of me.
When I get to the hospital, I'm told that I'll have to stay a week for my rib to finally heal. They put me on medication, and quickly took x-rays and other stupid tests. I could tell Summer was uncomfortable there. It probably reminded her of the last time she was here.
My mom and Summer left around 10, so I was just stuck in a hospital bed alone. This sucks...
***
The week finally ended and I was released from the hospital. The sharpie was off my forehead, my rib was all healed up, except for a small bruise. All my other bruises and cuts where gone. There weren't any scars left behind, except the mental one. I kept having nightmares of when they would attack me, and I swear, I could feel the pain of it in my dreams.
It was Sunday and tomorrow I would be going back to school...Ugh. I don't want to deal with Lukas and his bullsh*t. I still haven't told mom who did this to me, and she's really upset. She keeps ranting about how she's going to sue the whole school if I don't tell her. She can be so annoying...
I keep getting text messages from Lukas and his friends, mainly them just calling me names and stuff...I try to ignore them, I really do, but what if their right...? It's been making me really self conscious lately.
I take a shower, then get in bed. It's nice to finally be in my own bed. I sleep pretty good, but I know who I would sleep better with...
