Summers P.O.V
"So just to clear things up, we are in a relationship, right?" Tyler stands next to the door, sheepishly playing with his fingers.
Laughing, I pat my bed. He quickly sits next to me, Candy jumping onto his lap. "If being in a relationship means that I love you, and you love me too, then yes, I would consider it that."
Relief shown on his face as he flopped on the bed. "I love you Summer," He said loudly, almost yelling. "And nothing will change that."
I jump slightly and clap a hand over his mouth. "Your mom will hear!" I scold him.
"Let her," he says, looking into my eyes, "I want the whole world to know," He shoots up from the bed, raising his hands as if in victory, and yells, "That Summer is my girlfriend!"
I squeal as he lifts me into his arms, placing a dozen kisses on my forehead. I savor the moment, his warm body pressed against mine, my legs wrapped around his waist, his scent, his perfect smile.
Tyler suddenly looks alarmed, putting me on the ground. I look up at him. "What?"
"I almost forgot! I have a surprise for you. Get ready," Tyler leaves the room, leaving me there confused.
Pulling on some fresh clothes and touching up my makeup, I feel the best I have in years. I still miss my old life, my mom, but I'm happy here. I have Tyler. His mom is starting to be nicer to me. Everything seems to be coming together for once.I walk out, curious about what was going on. "Come on," Tyler rushes me out the door into his car. I wonder what he could be up to? A surprise party? Its not my birthday though. Maybe just some alone time, which I'm definitely not complaining about.
Tyler seems impatient at every red light, tapping his fingers against the steering wheel and checking his rear view mirror while flashing me small smiles. Finally we pull up to a restaurant, and I start to regret my outfit choice.
"Oh no," I started, but Tyler cuts me off.
"You look perfect. Now hush, no complaints allowed," I blush, sitting back into my seat as he parks.
I did wear a dress, but it was a simple sun dress. Nothing fancy. He opens the door for me, letting me into the restaurant, making me feel like a spoiled - and quite happy - girlfriend. Hm. I like that. Tyler's girlfriend.
Taken aback, I see Ryder and a surprised looking Kylie sitting in a booth. Ryder has an arm around Kylie, and she seems just as shocked to be here as me.
"Wait so, are you guys like-?" I look at both of them, sitting in front of Ryder.
"Oh yeah," Ryder says with a smirk, "This is my hot babe," He nods over to Kylie, who in turn smacks him in the arm. "Don't ever call me that again," she mutters through a laugh.
"What? Its only the truth," Ryder says in a husky voice, nibbling on her neck. Tyler whistles, and Kylie shyly pushes Ryder off. "Later," I hear her say quietly.
"Okay you love birds, try and hold off until we at least get food!" I laugh, snuggling up against Tyler.
"Follow your own advice!" Ryder says, before realizing the waitress had arrived. "Oh uh, I'll have a strawberry lemonade."
We all order, and have small chat. This felt so right. I used to wonder why this happened to me, why I was put into foster care, why I lost my mom, why I went through so much pain. Maybe it was to end up right here.
"Hey, what's that little mind of yours thinking about?" Tyler says, pulling me out of my thoughts.
"How lucky I am to have a boyfriend as amazing as you," I whisper to him. He smiles down at me.
"I think I'm the one who got lucky," He says matter of factly.
The waitress arrived with our food, bringing it's wonderful smells with it. It reminded me of when my mom last took me out to eat. We ate until we couldn't eat anymore, walking out with stomach aches and happy spirits.
"I have something to say," Tyler says, grabbing our attention. "I talked to my mom about some things. First of all, your dad is no longer and option Summer. He opted out at the last minute," He paused to see my reaction, which was semi-relieved,"And my mom agreed to take guardianship until you turn 18. You're all mine," He says with excitement, leaving me frozen in shock.
"I-I'm...You..I don't know what to say," I look around at all of their expressions. They look expectant, maybe even a little worried.
"I'm happy," I say, getting big smiles from everyone. It felt too good to be true. I get to live with Tyler, the best thing that has ever happened to me, and see my friends whenever I want. I lean my head gratefully on Tyler.
Life is never easy, but things do get better. I watch Ryder stuff his mouth with fries, and Kylie taste testing the different dressings. I watch Tyler tap his fingers on the table as he tells a joke, causing Ryder to choke on his fries, and Kylie to spit out her dressing onto him. Everything was so surreal.
It was perfect.
