Hercules huffed, the silence of the car nearly unbearable as he drove. Lafayette stared out the window of the passenger side, hoping no one would say anything. Thomas was in the middle seat in the back, both of his boyfriends leaning on either side of him, Alexander was asleep, and John was smiling, not seeming to notice the elephant in the room.
"Alright guys, we can't just not talk," Hercules said, eyeing the mirror to see Thomas rolling his eyes.
"Why not?" He snapped, glaring in Hercules' direction. Hercules sighed, shaking his head. "What, Hercules? Did you really think we could all just talk it out and we'd all be peachy again?"
John tugged on Thomas' sleeve, a pout on his lips. "Tommy, stop."
Thomas ignored John's pleas, instead deciding to further question Hercules, who was trying his best to ignore Thomas' comments. "Did you really expect I could just forgive you two for turning Alex away like that? When he knocked on your door, needing a place to stay. What if nobody took him in? What then?"
"You're the one who kicked him out in the first place," Hercules growled, feeling anger boil in his chest. For the first time in the whole drive Lafayette looked at Hercules, a bit of wariness in his eyes, noticing how Hercules' temper was getting worse.
"Oh I'm sorry, I had a sobbing boyfriend in my lap, what was your fucking excuse?!" Thomas snarled, crossing his arms.
John pulled on his sleeve harder, trying to gain Thomas' attention. "Please stop, Thomas."
"My excuse is that it's not my fucking job to console Alex, who everyone thought had cheated on you and John. I can't believe you're actually blaming me for all this, like it's somehow my fault," Hercules seemed to swerve a little, making Lafayette's eyes widen.
"Hercules, maybe we should pull over," Laf urged, eyeing the road nervously.
"He's still your fucking friend Hercules! Maybe if you and Lafayette had a little compassion for other people around you, we wouldn't be having this goddamn argument right now!" Thomas shouted, having no regard for John's brewing panic attack from all the yelling.
"You know what Thomas," Hercules grumbled, abruptly pulling the car over, much to the relief of Lafayette, who sighed, leaning his head on the window as Hercules turned around in his seat. Thomas raised an eyebrow, not noticing John's breathing getting faster. "That morning after you found out, you brought John where? That's right, to Laf and I. Now what would you have done if you came in to our dorm and John saw Alex? Hm? At that point neither of you had any thought that Alex was innocent, so who knows how either of you would've reacted. And Thomas, maybe if you'd pull your head out of your ass and notice your boyfriend is currently having a panic attack, which you're not even noticing because you're too busy yelling at me, I'd have more fucking respect for you. Now unless it's to comfort John, who your attention should be on right now, I don't want to hear another word out of your mouth."
Thomas knit his eyebrows in confusion, trying to figure out what Hercules meant, until John tugged on his sleeve once more. Thomas looked down, seeing John in the verge of tears. "Oh my god, John!" Thomas wrapped his arms around John the best he could in the small space of the backseat. Though with his sudden movements, Alex stirred awake, looking at Thomas with a confused expression. John started to cry into Thomas' chest, which Alexander noticed immediately, panic filling his eyes.
"What the hell happened?!" He shrieked, taking John's hand from across Thomas.
Thomas shook his head, just holding John as he cried, suddenly extremely ashamed of his behavior.
Lafayette took Hercules' hand, kind of impressed that Hercules didn't let his temper take over. Hercules barely acknowledged the gesture, he just made U-turn, heading back in the direction of the dorms.
"When we get back to the dorm we're ordering food, since apparently none of us can handle being adults today and going out to get food. Anyone have an objection?" Hercules asked, eyeing the mirror, seeing the three in the back shake their heads. "Good."
