"How could you'll be so foolish!?" Roared Kumar Amarendra.

The soldiers stood quiet in front of him hanging their head in shame.

"GO." He barked his order at them.

The soldiers bowed and quickly ran down the spiral staircase towards the coast.

Kumar Amarendra stood leaning against the window with a feeling of remorse, sadness and loneliness.

What did I do? Why did she.... I hope she is alive. Please Amma Gauri .....

He prayed and begged pursing his lips to contain the hiccup. He brushed that one drop of tear he had shed. He immediately managed a stern authoritative look and walked out of the dungeons and into the king's chamber.

"I hope, I haven't disturbed you nanna," Began Kumar Amarendra standing at the threshold.

"Oh no, no. Of course not..." He replied and signaled him to enter.

"What brings you here in the middle of the night?"

"I need some answers."

He was straight to the point.

Raja Ekchandra Mudiraj frowned and mumbled, "What is it?"

"Have you ended the devdasi pratha?"

The king's heart skipped a beat. Beads of cold sweat ran down his forehead. He gulped and tried to stabilise his trembling voice, "I... Of course it's ended. After Chandramukhi's death the pratha has been bought into control and then it ended."

Kumar Amarendra stared at his nanna without batting an eyelid.

Something's not right. Nanna has never been this scared.

Was his observant conclusion.

I have a feeling that nanna is lying.

"Umm... Did that girl ... Umm...plant those seed's of doubt in your mind?"

He asked trying to bring the game in his favour.

"Yes." Nodded Kumar Amarendra without any much thought. "She jumped off the window and is dead."

He stormed out of the room.

The king smiled, the evilest smile in his life.

Now the clock begins ticking for you Amarendra. You will be with her very soon. Your beloved Jagadmohini.

Kumar Amarendra sat silently unable to take his mind off Avantika. He did not realize when his brother stood behind him.

"Do you mourn her loss, anna?" Asked Kumar Rudhra softly.

He immediately turned alarmed and then turned away looking out of the window.

"I... No." He snapped.

"Good," Sighed Kumar Rudhra "That's why you are quite today."

"Rudhra if it is possible please leave me alone."

Kumar Rudhra left the room quietly knowing what his anna was going through. This was one of the biggest conflict he was encountering. He just prayed that Avantika would be well and alive, and that his anna would find her, and they both will live happily with love and joy they deserve.
