"I did not understand that note." Said Kumar Rudhra.
"I need you to find out who commanded Kumar Amarendra's death." She said.
"That will be done, but I have my doubts on amma." He mumbled.
"I'm doubting the king." She replied.
"How's your wound?"
"That's alright." She replied.
"Maithali, Kumar Amarendra has summoned you to the court." Informed a servant girl.
Maithali gave a questioning look to Kumar Rudhra.
He showed her to the door.
She left the Antapuram and went to the court.
"Maithali is the reason that I'm alive once more." Beamed Kumar Amarendra.
"No." She shook her head, "Kumar Amarendra was efficient enough to save himself. I just helped him..."
"You are a dancer," Began Rani Maalavi Devi, "you are supposed to be here and not in the battlefield. What were you doing there?"
"I just wanted to be of some help..." She replied.
"Help!" Smirked Kumar Subbayya before Rani Maalavi Devi could. "A cheap dancer like you has no place beside a Kshatriya."
"Subbayya maama stop insulting her." Said Kumar Amarendra, "She has done a noble task."
"Noble!" Exclaimed the king, "Or did you want to win the prince over to you?"
Maithali tightened her fists, they had angered her to the extreme and now it was give back time.
"If I need to win anybody I don't need to fight, I can very well seduce a man." She replied, "All I wanted was the prince's safety because he was too brave or rather too foolish to take a decision of going to Peddapuram with fifteen men you had selected who have now vanished."
"HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO THE KING LIKE THAT!" Roared Rani Maalavi Devi, "DANDNAYAKA CEASE HER."
"One moment." Said Kumar Amarendra stopping the Dandnayaka.
"There is no crime that she has committed that the Dandnayaka ought to put her in prison. She has spoken the truth."
Kumar Amarendra turned to his father and said, "The fifteen men chosen for the mission have vanished, the spies in Peddapuram came to know we had come in the disguise of merchants. In the night, thousands of guards attacked us. They were well armed."
"Kumar Amarendra is right," Agreed Bhoomipati Bhadrarava, "Maithali has done no crime and speaks the truth."
"Kumar Amarendra always supports the just." Added Dandnayaka Pratapa.
"Tomorrow, there shall be a ceremony for all the brave who participated in the war." Announced the king. "And today we will host a victory celebration."
