I woke up later than usual that morning. Sadly, Reade was not in bed with me. I decided to go down to the lake for a wash, so I put on my cloak and left the house. The sun beamed down at me as I slipped my clothes off and daintily dipped my toes into the cool water. Then I slipped into the water, swimming further into the middle of the lake before resurfacing. I lay on my back for quite awhile, my eyes slowly closing. I had desperately needed this well earned peace. Breathing out a sigh of satisfaction, I day-dreamed about Reade and I together. I day-dreamed about us in the future, gently rocking a baby to sleep, as another of our children rested her head on Reade's shoulder. Then there was a knock at the door. My daughter rushed to open it, expecting the Dwarfs to greet us as usual. But it wasn't them. It was Chester. Oh gosh. Chester. The man I had claimed was my only true love and I hadn't thought of him once since leaving the castle.
Just then, I was abruptly awoken by a shout in the distance. I spun around in the water to see a group of young men running away with my clothes. "Hey!" I called. "Give those back!" I swam as fast as I could back to shore, and was about to get out and chase after them before I remembered I was stark naked. "Bastards," I hissed.
I was too embarrassed to leave the water without clothes and so decided to wait for Reade to come looking for me. My fingers had grown wrinkly from being in the water so long. If only the ginormous Grandfather Clock from the palace still stood in front of me so I could check on the time.
An hour later I heard a familiar call in the distance. "Heather? Heather, where are you?"
"I'm over here!" I called back, waving my arms until Reade stepped out on the bank in front of me. "Princess? There you are! Well, come on out, the dwarfs have made soup for lunch."
"I can't."
"Why not?" Reade asked, and then his eyebrows raised and his mouth opened slightly as I stood up to show him why.
"Well don't stand there gawking at me! Hurry up and get me some clothes!" I snapped suddenly.
"O... oh," Reade snapped back to reality. "Yeah. Yeah, I'll get you some. Wait here." He scurried away.
"It's not like I've been waiting for you for the past hour," I muttered.

"How long were you out there for?" Skamrak asked.
"A long time. Some idiots took my clothes."
The dwarfs all expressed their annoyance.
"Those boneheads!" Toregoth exclaimed.
"They probably got a lot of money off of that make." Gabuth growled.
"A fine make. Very fine indeed." Thrargeam piped in. "Took me a long time to make that using the old dress you had on before."
"You also looked nice without the clothes on," Reade suddenly said, quickly covering his mouth with his hand in embarrassment. We all stared at Reade's tomato red face and there was an awkward silence. Then Hadak began laughing. He laughed and laughed and laughed, and the others joined in with him. Soon everyone was laughing, and I gave Reade a quick kiss on the cheek.
"What a charmer," I winked, and waggled my eyebrows flirtatiously. Reade began to laugh again, and wrapped his arms around me in a hug.
"I love you."
"I love you too," I told him, kissed him on the nose, and turned to the dwarfs. "Now," I said. "Are we going to eat this soup or are we going to let it go cold?"

Reade and I were huddled up in bed together when there was a thundering boom of pain from outside. I sat up in my bed. I recognised that shout.
"Did you hear that? Reade?" I shook him awake.
Reade rubbed his eyes sleepily. "What?""Did you hear that noise? Outside?"
"No, I was asleep. Besides, I'm sure it was nothing."
"It was a cry of pain, it wasn't nothing."
"Well it doesn't concern us. Now go back to sleep."
"N... no. It does concern me. I recognise that shout. I'd recognise it anywhere. And we need to help him."
"What? No, I'm sorry, you can't go outside now, it's too late and..."
But it was too late, for I had jumped out of bed and ran out of the front door to find out where the source of noise had come from. I had to do it. I had to save the giant.
