*Reade's POV Past Tense*
Upon reaching the top, we witnessed a sight we never thought we would. The Giant sat staring out at the setting sun, crying. Crying. I never thought I would see a big, angry looking creature such as himself bawling his eyes out. He wiped his nose with the back of his hand and when he saw us up at the top of the mountain, he was too upset to make any attempt to scare us away. Skamrak, always the father figure to those who needed him to be, walked closer to the giant, showing no fear whatsoever. He placed his tiny hand on part of the Giant's arm.
"Hey,sonny," he said calmly. I remember he used to call me "sonny" whenever I got upset about something when I was little. The giant certainly wasn't little, but it seemed to be working because he sniffled a bit and turned to face us all.
"Hello," he sobbed.
"What's wrong?" Skamrak asked. Toregoth and Gabuth came closer to the giant.
"Heather doesn't like me!" he cried.
"Why's that?"
"S-She didn't like the g-gift I gave her!"
"What gift was that?"
"S-Some books!"
"Why wouldn't she like the books?"
"She said I stole them and I didn't steal them! I only took them!"Hadak and Thrargeam nodded at eachother, this was the havoc that had been created in the market that morning.
"She doesn't love me! She never did!" the Giant wailed. "All I want is for her to be happy!"
"Are you sure she isn't happy?"
"S-She said she was but... she said she would prefer to be with Reade!"
All the Dwarfs looked at me. The giant saw and he lifted a shaky finger towards me.
"Y-you! You took Heather's love from me. S-she doesn't love me!"
"Well maybe," Skamrak said, "Maybe you should do what makes her happy, if you love her."
"I tried that before and she still wasn't happy enough!"
"Well, why don't you apologise to her and ask her what she would like to do."
The Giant nodded slowly. "Y-yes," he mumbled. "That's what I'll do. That's what I'll do!" He scooped Skamrak up in a quick hug before putting him down and bounding away back down the mountain.
"And wait for us!" I called, but the Giant was already too far down to hear.
Skamrak shook his head. "Like a big baby," he said.
"A BIG baby," Toregoth added, and we chased down the mountain after him.

*Chester's POV past tense*
"I want to become a King's Guard," I told the man, slamming the money down on the table.
"Aye," the man replied. "But look at the waiting list."
"Aye," I snapped back. "But look at the money I gave you."
"We don't want your money! We want trained soldiers!"
"I am trained! I am very good with horses, and swords too!" I didn't tell them that I gained my knowledge from playing with my Uncle's sword in secret in the palace.
"Well, if you are good with horses, apply for the job as a stable boy! If you are good with swords, become a Sword cleaner or something. If you are not good as you say you are well..."
"Become a practise dummy!" The man next to him said, and the men around the table laughed. My hands clenched into fists. They were making a mockery of me!
"Besides, you look too young," another added. I had specifically grown out a beard so as to look older. "How old are you?"
"Thirty-two."
"Liar!" All of the men laughed again. "Look boy, you're too young, and even if you weren't, we wouldn't want you anyway. Now scram!"
Angrily, I grabbed the money of the desk and stormed away. I need to join up somehow, or I would never have a chance of finding Heather again.

*Heather's POV past tense*
I was about halfway through my book when the Giant bounded back through the cave. He picked me up and hugged me tight. I could hardly breathe.
"I'm sorry!" he exclaimed. "I'm so so sorry, Princess! Forgive me! I was wrong! I'm sorry!"
I patted his chest awkwardly."I forgive you. But-uh-please put-me-down."
"Have you not forgiven me yet Princess?"
"I have! I was just finding it a little hard to breathe, that's all."
"What do you want to do?" he asked suddenly.
"Where's this coming from?"
"A very small man told me to do it."
"Well," I said. "I think we should return those books."
