Reade ran after me calling my name, and I hissed at him to shut up. There was a bright light in the distance, and the shouts of men. I grabbed Reade's hands and together we crept further towards the sound.

As we grew closer I could see a big crowd of men waving torches about. They were spitting and cursing, some laughing at this prize they had caught. Inbetween them- the giant. He was tied down to ground with hundreds of strong ropes, and a net covered his body. He squirmed in pain and a man burnt his thigh with a torch. The other men joined in, taunting the giant. I covered my mouth with my hand in shock and horror. Tears escaped my eyes.

Reade placed a comforting arm on my shoulder. "I'm sorry Heather. There's nothing we can do." I spun round to face him and buried my head in his chest.
"There has to be something," tears were wetting his shirt. He shook his head.
"I'm sorry Heather. We can't do anything. We can't." I wept and wept. Then all of a sudden, I had an idea. It was risky, and probably the most dangerous thing I would ever do. But I did it.

I ran straight towards the giant, screaming at him. "Giant! Giant, it's me, Heather! Listen to me! It's Heather! I'm here!" The Giant and all the men turned to look at me. "Giant! Listen to me! You have to break free! Break free, for me!"

The men started coming towards me. "Giant! Please! Break free!" The giant's face turned to anger, to determination. His whole body tensed up, and the ropes that bound his ripped away. He tore the net off himself and stood up, knocking everybody over as he did so. One by one he picked the men up and threw them across the forest. He went to pick up Reade but I screamed. "No! No! Not him!"

The giant turned to me. Instead of just picking me up, he knelt on the floor and placed his hand on the ground for me to climb on. I looked at Reade. He shook his head. "I'm sorry Giant. I can't come with you. I have to stay with Reade," I held Reade's hand. "You're free now. You're safe." I kissed the giant's hand and turned round to walk away with Reade when I was off the ground, in the Giant's hand, and being taken away once again. I heard Reade screaming my name until it faded to silence.

The Giant placed me on the table once again. "Oh, Giant," I sighed. "Don't do this. Take me back." The giant started humming and making some food. I had to shout over the clanging of pots and pans- "I need to go home. Back to Reade. Back to the dwarfs. I can't stay here. You know I can't." The giant carried on making food, ignoring me.

"Don't ignore me!" I rolled my eyes. "You know I can't stay here!" The giant was humming Ae Fond Kiss, twirling round and round as he did. He picked me up and twirled round with me, dancing and singing. I looked at him with pity. This poor lonely giant.

"Giant, I told you, you have to take me back. Please, Giant. Please-" Suddenly the giant roared in anger.
"NO! YOU WILL STAY HERE!" He took me over to the cage I had been in once before and placed me in it. "YOU WILL STAY HERE WITH ME AND YOU SHALL NEVER LEAVE!"
