*Heather's POV past tense*
When I woke up the giant was not in the cave. I couldn't get down off the giant's table and reach the floor, so I sat on the sofa he had made for me and awaited his return. When he did return, he was holding something behind his back.
"What have you got there?" I asked him curiously.
From behind his back he produced a beautiful rose. The rose was a lot bigger than a normal rose would be to us, but to the giant it was probably a normal size. The sweet scent wafted up into my nostrils.
"Oh, it's beautiful!" I exclaimed, blushing. He carefully placed the rose down next to me. Then he took out a massive handful of books and dropped them next to me. These I was more cautious with.
"Where did you get these?"
"I got them from the human stall."
"The market? You can't take them without paying, that's stealing!

The giant's face dropped. "Do you not like them?"
"I do, it's just that they belong to somebody else, not me."
"They belong to you now," he insisted.
"Not without paying for them first. I'm sorry, I can't accept these."
"You can."

"No I can't!"

"You are not happy!" The Giant picked up the rose and ripped the petals so they fell torn onto the table I was stood on. "I try to make you happy! I try hard!" I swear I could see a tear in the corner of the Giant's eye as he ran out of the cave, leaving me in shock behind him.

The Dwarfs and I had not been back to the cottage once since I was put back by the giant. We had taken our stuff and hiked for days and days, trying to locate the cave in which Heather was being held. All the Wanted posters for Heather had since been covered by wanted pictures for the Giant. After he had killed some men, and just this morning trashed a book stall at the market, the King's guards and all the men of the villages joined together to hunt him down. I knew the Giant wasn't actually as cruel as he was painted, he was just misunderstood, and his little understanding of human ways didn't help that. Besides, he had only been defending himself when he killed the men, but seeing as he was three times the size of the men themselves, the villagers assumed that the giant was a cold-blooded murderer.

Just when we thought we would have to call it a day and get some rest Thrargeam shouted- "Look over there!" and pointed ahead of us. In the distance, clambering up to the top of the mountain was the giant.

"Let's go!" Gabuth said, and we all raced forwards. I was a lot faster than the dwarfs, so it took less time to reach the bottom of the mountain. When all had reached me, we began to climb.

I severely hoped that the Giant calmed down and came back soon. I knew he would calm down, but whether our little argument meant he treated me differently or not, I wondered. The mess of books and petals were still all over the floor. I picked up one of the books and began to read.
