The Giant picked me up and carried me out from the cave and down to the market. People who saw us screamed and ran away from the stalls. "He's got the Princess!" someone called.
"Hey!" I called down. "It's alright! He won't hurt you!" But the person had already scampered away.
"Someone get the guards!" Another person called. A few male villagers surrounded the Giant, attempting to trap him.
"Giant, put the books back and go!" I said to him. "Quick! Don't hurt anybody!"
The Giant did as told, and then raced back to the cave with me, I saw a few men attempt to follow, but the Giant was miles faster than them.
When we got back to the cave, I thanked the Giant. He put me down on the table.
"No, thank you, for teaching me what is right and what is wrong," he said.
I smiled up him. No longer did I show any fear towards him, he truly had a kind heart, he just needed help in showing that.
"You can't go back there though," my smile faltered. "You're in great danger at the moment, giant, even more danger than me."

"I don't mind. As long as you are safe."
"Giant, listen to me. Promise you won't go back there."
"I promise, Princess," he picked me up and cradled me. "Anything to make you happy."

Chester's POV Past tense
"Are you alright there, son?" a voice said from behind me. "Trying to sign up for the Royal Guards?" I nodded. "Well, they won't take you. They're not taking anyone who doesn't fit their criteria completely at the moment." After a moment he said, "If you want to sign up for something, I know a much better group you can join."
"Really?" I asked.
"Yes. If you want to join, then follow me! Are you coming? Well come on then!" I ran after him as he led me down streets and alleyways.
"Hey, wait up!" I called, but the man only ran faster and I had to increase my pace.

We got down to a darker part of the alleyways and the man stopped at a brown door with a sign saying "Old Smokey's" above it. The man knocked on the door. We had to wait a few seconds before the door opened a crack.

"Who is it?" a frail voice mumbled from inside.
"It's Jack, Smokes. I've brought someone with me who wants to join us."
"A male?"

"Yes, sir."
"Age?"
He looked at me. "Truth?" he said.
"Nineteen."
"Nineteen," the man repeated.
The door opened slightly wider. "Come in," the voice from inside said.
The hallway inside was pitch black. There were no windows and I tried to see where the man in front of me had gone.
"In here, boy." A hand grabbed me and pulled me through a door. Five candles dimly lit the room I was in, revealing the faces of men from ages of about sixteen to eighty. I cautiously weaseled my way through some of the men to stand at the back corner. We waited for a couple of minutes until the old man entered the room. One of the men in the room offered his seat to him but Smokey shook his head.
"Now," he began, when everyone had completely settled down. "We may or may not have a new boy joining us today. It is up to him whether to join us, but if he does not, he should know we are not going to let him go that easily, as he shall have heard too much information."
"How do we know he's not a spy?" One of the men piped up.
"Well, he shall have to take the initiation test later, and you know that never fails. Now boy," he beckoned to me. "Come to the front and tell us your name and age."
I did as asked.
"Do you know why all of us are gathered here?" the man asked me.
"Something to do with some group that are trying to be the equivalent of the Royal Guards?"
All of the men in the room spluttered with laughter.
"Goodness, no! We are far from Royal, and we plan to do more for the people's needs than the Guards do. Plus, this is volunteering only, so, if you were looking for a job, mate, either work with one of these men here in their businesses or job, or don't join at all."
"What sort of stuff do you do 'for people's needs."
"Well, as you should know, a Princess from the Kingdom escaped from the dungeon not long ago. She was put there for "destroying the accommodation that she had been put in". On closer inspection, there was no way that a mere girl could have created that much destruction, but the King chose to overlook this, otherwise his reputation would be ruined if he was found putting his own daughter in the dungeon for something she did not do. Not long ago, a few men had gone out to try and catch a creature that had been seen stealing flock. They were found dead, all pretty far away from eachother. The ropes that had bound the creature were found, and had been ripped apart. Of course, the Royal Guards covered this up, as they did not want villagers to see it and panic to be caused. Then, only this morning, our suspicions were confirmed. The group we had created so long ago was finally for a cause, we were no longer being laughed at. No, the Beast stormed through the village, with the poor Princess on his shoulder. Now, people believe us. We can finally do what the Royal Guards are not doing and become heroes. We can save the Princess and kill the Beast!"
"What?!" My eyes grew wide. My gosh, my beauty was alive. She was still alive! We could be reunited at last! "Yes!" I shouted. "I'll join! I'll pass whatever initiation test I have to! I'll join you, and I'll fight with you, and I won't let you down!"
All the men arose into a cheer. We all began chanting- "Kill the Beast! Kill the Beast!" over and over again. I truly believed it. We were going to do this. We were going to save Heather.
