*Heather's POV Past Tense*

When the giant returned, the tears in my eyes were tears of hatred. "I hate you, I hate you, I hate you!" I screamed. "You killed him!"
The giant stopped and turned to look at me. "I did not kill him," he said simply.
"W-What?"

"I did not kill him."
"What did you do to him?"
"You would not be happy if he died. I only want you to be happy."
"What did you do to him?" I asked him again.
"I put him back"
"Back where?" I asked.
"Back to the ground where I took him."
"You did?"
The giant nodded. I allowed my eyes to soften a bit. "Thank you," I said, relieved. "Thank you so much for not hurting him."
The giant opened the cage and I climbed onto his hand. He rocked me gently and there was a silence. Then I asked- "Can you take me back too?"

The giant looked away. "I'm sorry. You stay with me."
"But-"
"No, Princess. You have anything you wish for but you stay with me."
I knew there was no use arguing more so I nestled into his hand. I took hold of his thumb and hugged it. "Oh, Giant," I sighed.
The giant slowly pulled his thumb from me and started to stroke me. He stood there stroking me for a while, before he sat me on the table.
"You are beautiful," the Giant said.
"Thank you."
"You are kind. You have beautiful voice, you have beautiful mind."
"Thank you," I blushed at the compliments.
"But you are not happy."
"Well..."
"Tomorrow, I shall make you happy. Tomorrow, you come with me and I show you something almost as beautiful as you."

I sat on the Giant's shoulder as he climbed the mountain, wind tickling my face. He was gentle, so the ride was peaceful, unlike the first time he had taken me. When we reached the top, he set me down on the floor, and he sat down beside me. The view was magnificent. The sun was setting in front of us, and the view of the castle and all the villages stood below. I felt a slight pang when I looked at the palace but chose to ignore it and focus on the rest of the view anyway.

I saw the forest that I had run through, and the lake in which I had swam in. The market stalls where I had got the dress were still up. Tears filled my eyes. This place, although not perfect, these places had been part of my home. "Are you crying?" a voice said from beside me.

I wiped the tears away. "No... no, just tears of happiness."

"Happiness?"
"Yes. This makes me happy."
The giant let out a cry of delight, and I couldn't help but smile. He was sweet, in his own special way. I stood up and started twirling around, dancing and singing. The giant laughed and clapped his hands. As I grew tireder the giant beckoned for me to come to him, and I did so. He lay down, and I lay down on his stomach and, to the rhythmic sounds of his breathing, fell fast asleep.
