Lance and Heathcliff rowed the boat to the shore and we all climbed out.

“We still love you just the way you are, Iris.” Amour whispered in my ear.

I smiled at her and nodded. She flew over to where Antoinette and Rose were hovering by a tree.

“So we need to find somewhere to set up camp for the night; preferably not too far from here as we’re all very tired.” Lance said.

I nodded and we started walking through the forest. We soon found a spot that was dry and slightly sheltered. The trees surrounded the little area but I could still slightly see the stars in the sky. I got a sleeping bag out of my backpack and lay it down on the ground.

“Heathcliff, you know the forest better than I do; go and find us some firewood.” Lance told him.

Heathcliff nodded, turned into his wolf form and ran off into the forest. Lance came over and sat on my sleeping bag next to me.

“How are you holding up?” He asked.

I sighed. “A few days ago I was an ordinary girl that nobody noticed; now I’m a girl that is believed to be the chosen one and I have a mermaid tail.”

Lance chuckled. “It could be worse.”

I laughed without humour. “Please enlighten me about how this situation could possibly be worse! I came here and I made good friends and now my closest one doesn’t even look at me because he finds me repulsing because of my tail.”

Lance nodded and sighed.

“You could be dead.” He said.

I sighed again. “Good point.”

“Heathcliff will come round soon; don’t worry.”

I nodded. I lay back and looked up to the sky. A moment later, Lance lay down beside me.

“Do you have stars where you come from?” Lance asked me.

I laughed. “Yes we do.”

            “Just checking; you never know.”

I smiled and looked at the stars. I suddenly saw one race across the sky.

“Look! A shooting star!” I exclaimed whilst following it with my finger.

“You saw it first so you get to make a wish.” Lance said.

I grinned and closed my eyes. What should I wish for?

I wish that Lance would kiss me. One kiss and I’ll be happy.

I opened my eyes and Lance was looking down at me. His face was dangerously close to mine. I gulped and smiled nervously.

“What did you wish for?” He asked huskily.

I shook my head slightly. “Not telling.”

He frowned. “Why not?”

“Because then it won’t come true.” I whispered.
