We arrived at the lake’s edge and saw a small, wooden rowing boat tied to a tree. It looked as if it hadn’t been used in a while and that worried me slightly.

“Lance, are you sure it’s safe?” I asked worriedly.

He took my hand and looked me in the eyes for the first time since our almost kiss.

“I promise you Iris.” He said sincerely.

I nodded and we all got in and started to row across the lake.

            Iris.

A soft voice called my name when we were half way across the lake. I looked at Heathcliff and raised an eyebrow at him. He looked back at me in confusion.

I sighed. “What do you want Heathcliff?” I asked.

“Nothing Iris; why?” Heathcliff said in confusion.

“I heard you say my name in our mind bond.” I said.

Heathcliff shook his head. “I didn’t say anything.”

I looked at him in confusion before shaking my head and forgetting it.

            Iris!

I looked at him again.

            “Stop it.” I told him.

“Iris, I’m not saying anything.” Heathcliff said worriedly.

Suddenly a loud shriek echoed around us. I looked around in panic to see if I could see anything.

“What the hell is going on?” I asked.

“I knew this was a bad idea. We need to get off of the water, now.” Heathcliff said firmly.

I looked at Lance and he had an expression of fear across his face also. He nodded his head and started to row faster. I looked around and noticed a blanket of mist starting to surround our boat.

Come and play with us Iris.

I looked around in worry.

“Iris; what is it?” Amour asked worriedly.

“It’s a girl’s voice, she wants me to go and play with them. But who is them?” I asked worriedly.

Heathcliff looked at me and his face turned white. His eyes went wide and he had completely frozen.

“Heathcliff what is it?” I asked.

“Stories we used to tell back home to scare each other when we were little. They’re all true.” He murmured.

I noticed something move in the water out the corner of my eye but it was too quick to see it again. As crazy as it sounds it looked like a long, big fish’s tail. I didn’t like this one bit.

Iris, look into the water. You know you want to.

I looked slightly to the water beside me and noticed something shining bright beneath the surface.  I leaned further over so I could see more clearly the bright thing. I reached out my hand to touch the water.
