The Jokers vador sped down the street, overtaking cars as he sat in front of the roaring engine. Everything outside the window was a blur of lights being flashed. Horns were pressed as the lunatic driver laughed, being driven on by Harley Quinn. His newest partner in crime. She had only taken the Chemical bath two days ago. So this was their first robbery. She adored it. The adrenaline pumping in her veins made it even more enjoyable. It was just the two clowns pulling off the robbery but that's all they needed for the small bank. No more than 3 security guards were taken out and a c4 was used on the safe. It had went perfectly. But Harley thought too quickly.
The next second another engine was heard from behind. It wasn't cops because no flashing lights were blinding them. When Harley looked back she saw a slim black car pursuing them. Her jaw dropped. She would finally get to see the caped vigilante herself. If her Puddin' didn't lose him, which she doubted.
Suddenly The Joker pulled on the wheel, causing the car to spin into an alley where it crashed into the red brick wall. Harley groaned as her head hit off the window. She could feel a headache coming on, but her injuries were less severe than her partners. He spun it so his side would smash into the wall. He had small pieces of glass sticking out of his hand and his arm didn't look right.
"Are you ok?" He asked Harley as she sat in shock staring at him. She could only nod her as no words were forming.
At that second Harley's door was swung open. She screamed as large black armoured hands reached in and dragged her out. He stood his ground as she kicked and squirmed. She then stopped as he set her feet on the ground.
"Who are you?" He asked in a gruff tone staring deep into her eyes. His mouth was a thin line showing no emotion.
The Joker was struggling to get out of the car with one good arm. He eventually tumbled out onto the cold cement ground with a groan.
"Batsy. This is my new partner in crime. Harley Quinn." He said with a dramatic bow looking up at her.
Batman still stared at her as she tried to form words in her brain, but the pain was too much so she just stayed silent.
"Harleen?" Batman muttered after staring deep into her unique blue eyes. He had went to dinner with Harleen a few times as Bruce Wayne, to discuss her therapy ideas and theories.
That word snapped her out of silence. "I'm not Harleen no more Batsy." She retorted with a frown. Her Brooklyn accent was thick which Batman had never heard before.
"That's my girl." The green haired man said lifting himself up and snaking his hand around her waist.
"What has he done to you? Everyone thought he killed you." Batman said with a monotone voice. His hands were balled as his jaw clenched.
"I simply helped her find herself Bats." J answered brushing his hand down her arm.
Batman's hand found The Jokers throat as he shoved him roughly against the wall. "What did you do?!" He asked more violently this time pulling him back from the wall to shove him against it once again.
The Joker just chuckled. "I just helped her Bats. I thought you liked helping people?"
"Helping is not making someone as crazy as you." He replied tightening his grip on his throat, closing his air pipe.
"Hey! Let go of him!" Harley shouted kicking the back of the caped mans knee, sending him to the ground.
The Joker jumped away, bent over trying to fill his lungs. He let out a breathless laugh. "She's happy Bats. Being a boring shrink all your life can crush someone's soul."
Batman stood up, snapping two cuffs off his belt. "Well then I guess I'll have to take you both to Arkham."
"Puddin'?" Harley asked nervously as Batman approached her first.
The Joker was thinking of leaving her to make his own escape. But just as he was about to slip away there was a sharp pain in his chest and throat. He was on the verge of tears seeing her so helpless asking for his help. He couldn't just leave her here. With a growl he picked up a pipe laying beside a bin and snuck up on the vigilante. With one swift swing of his good arm Batman was knocked to the ground.
Joker grabbed onto Harley's wrist painfully tight as he sprinted down the alley. He took out his phone dialling a number. "Frost? Pick us up. Just track the car." He hung up and slipped the phone back into his pocket.
The Joker looked around and found a small shop on the corner of the street. He dragged Harley along with him and they both hid in there while waiting for the henchman.
"How did Batman know who I was?" Harley asked J as they hid behind the counter of the terrified cashier.
"The person under the mask knew you Harls. But don't worry. He doesn't know Harley." He said with a grin brushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear. He couldn't let anyone see him do this so he took out his pocket knife and threw it right in between the cashiers eyes.
They heard the batmobile drive by. Obviously looking for them running away. With a chuckle J jumped over the counter, followed by Harley. The next second they could see an all black van pull out of the alley where the car had been abandoned.
They crossed the street and jumped in the back. "When Batman was going to cuff me, were you going to leave?" Harley whispered as her eyes glazed over.
"No. And don't ask that again."
